Marvel’s Top Producer Explains The Very Logical Reason Why Avengers Stories Likely Won’t Ever Play Out On Disney+

As a long-time Marvel fan who has been following the adventures of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes since the dawn of time (or at least since 1963 when the first Avengers comic was published), I can confidently say that while it may be a challenge to create a multi-season TV series based on an Avengers team, it would be a rare and unique situation for an MCU show on Disney+. The idea of a one-season Young Avengers or West Coast Avengers series, where the team comes together for the first time, is not only plausible but also intriguing, given the rich history of both teams in Marvel Comics.

Speculations about the demise of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been overstated. Despite a few setbacks recently, such as the less-than-stellar performances of certain films, there’s plenty of evidence that the fans are still eagerly anticipating what lies ahead. For instance, the blockbuster success of the film “Deadpool and Wolverine” and the fervor surrounding Robert Downey Jr.’s comeback as Doctor Doom all point to a lively interest in the future of this franchise. With the MCU continuing to thrive both in theaters and on Disney+, the possibilities are virtually limitless

In the realm of imaginative speculation, while extraordinary events may unfold, it’s less probable to find an Avengers television series on Disney+, given the complex narrative structure of such a series as described by Marvel producer Brad Winderbaum, who pointed out the challenges in structuring an Avengers storyline. He elaborated this perspective prior to the premiere of Marvel TV series like “Agatha All Along.”

It’s natural that in a movie, there should be a key event that brings together Earth’s most powerful heroes – the Avengers. On a daily basis, this could be challenging to maintain on a long-running TV series. In comics, it’s common for the Avengers to disassemble and reassemble, which creates an intriguing narrative pattern, though one that might prove unique for a TV show

In the upcoming Marvel films featuring The Avengers, there may also be room for a smaller-scale Avengers tale on Disney+. The concluding moments of “The Marvels” hinted towards the inception of a Young Avengers team, and given that both Ms. Marvel and Hawkeye (Kate Bishop) debuted on Disney+ series, it’s plausible to imagine a Young Avengers project on this platform

Although Winderbaum’s argument is valid, suggesting that creating a multi-season series based on an Avengers team could be challenging, this scenario is relatively uncommon when it comes to Marvel Studios shows on Disney+. Most of what they’ve produced so far has been single-season series. Therefore, a one-season Young Avengers or West Coast Avengers series, which chronicles the team forming for the first time, seems feasible and plausible

Despite this, it’s evident that a movie titled “Avengers” has strong potential to draw large audiences, making it more probable that such projects are films rather than series. Regrettably, as there hasn’t been any announcement about a “Young Avengers” film yet, we don’t know if or when the narrative will continue in another format
