As a lifestyle expert, I find Bobby Deol’s journey from addiction to triumph truly inspiring. His ability to acknowledge his past struggles and transform them into lessons for others is commendable. It’s heartwarming to see how he found strength within himself when he saw the concern in the eyes of his loved ones.
Actor Bobby Deol, known for his roles in Bollywood, earned the title “Lord Bobby” following his collaboration with Ranbir Kapoor in the film “Animal” released in 2023, which rekindled his popularity as an action star in B-town. However, before this comeback, there was a challenging period in his personal and professional life that he still finds difficult to look back on. In a recent interview, he opened up about the struggles he faced with alcohol addiction.
In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Bobby Deol reflected on his past struggle with alcoholism. He acknowledged that dwelling too much on regrets is counterproductive because it hinders learning. “You simply had to experience everything you went through and emerge from it,” he emphasized, adding that no one can live your life for you.
Bobby, the actor from The Love Hostel, expressed that he wouldn’t presume to guide his fans or those experiencing similar challenges on how to escape their situation because they already possess the means to do so. He emphasized that everyone has this capability within themselves; it’s merely a matter of trusting oneself and allowing that ability to manifest in one’s mind. In his words, “It’s as if you are drowning, but instead of helping each other to swim, people allow themselves to sink. I believe everyone can find their way out.
In a heartfelt moment, Deol revealed that a lightbulb went off in his head when he noticed everyone at home expressing concern for him. “They’d offer me encouragement,” he said, “but their eyes spoke volumes of sadness as they watched me struggle.” He further explained that their words were the only comfort they could provide. However, it was when he contemplated his role as a father and how his children would admire and be inspired by him, just as he had been by his own father, Dharmendra, that he found newfound motivation to work harder and strive for success.
Reflecting on the past, he commented, “I believe it all began with ‘Poster Boys.’ The movie didn’t achieve great success, but it was a unique genre that unfortunately didn’t resonate. Yet, I persisted in my pursuit of doing something distinctive.
