As a seasoned Pokemon Go trainer with years of experience under my belt, I must say that the new Dynamax and Max battles have truly shaken up the world of Pokemon Go. The introduction of Max Particles has added an exciting layer to my daily activities, making every step I take feel like a step towards victory.

Pokemon Go has welcomed a significant update with the introduction of Dynamax, which has introduced numerous fresh features and items across the game map. It’s so noticeable that it’s hard to overlook once you launch Pokemon Go. We’ve gathered all the information about Max Battles, Max Particles, and Dynamax Pokemon in this article, ensuring you’re well-informed on everything related to this exciting update.

How to gain Max Particles

Scattered across the map are purple spots, resembling PokeStops, known as Power Stops. Each of these spots comes equipped with a timer, typically running for up to two days before vanishing. By tapping on these spots, you can collect 120 Max Particles. Moreover, walking 2 kilometers will reward you with an additional 300 Max Particles.

There is a limit to the max number of particles you can hold at a time, capped at 1,000MP, so you do need to use these particles on your Pokemon to make room for more. There is also a limit to the number of max particles you can gain per day (around 800 to 1280) from stops and walking.

By this point, you’ve probably obtained both a Wooloo and Skwovet through the Dynamax research, serving as an introduction to the new feature. To acquire additional Dynamax Pokémon, challenge them during raids. However, keep in mind that you must already have at least one Dynamax Pokémon to participate in a raid battle.

Dynamax Raids

1-Star Dynamax Raids require 250 Max Particles for entry, allowing collaboration with up to 3 other trainers. Each team may field a maximum of three Dynamax Pokémon. The mechanics resemble traditional raids, except for a Dynamax gauge visible at the screen’s top. As this bar fills, your Pokémon will dynamically increase size. In combat, you can employ three Max Moves against your target. During battle, orbs of Max Particles may appear, which, when burst, enhance the Dynamax meter on-screen.

The rewards for these raids are 10,000XP, Golden Raspberries, Revives, XL Candy and XL Rare Candy. You can pay 200 coins to add on more premium items to your win screen.

Once you successfully complete a Dynamax Raid, you may deposit your victorious Dynamax Pokemon into the Power Spot. This action enables the Pokemon to provide candy for that specific species, depending on how many towns engage in battles with the Power Spot after your Pokemon has been placed. Additionally, your Pokemon’s presence will make it simpler for other trainers to confront and defeat that Dynamax Pokemon. You are free to retrieve your Pokemon from a Power Stop whenever you desire.

Following a Raid, the area becomes more likely to host Pokémon appearances. Additionally, after Raids, you might encounter Shiny Dynamax Pokémon too. It’s important to mention that Max Battles don’t have a time limit; instead, they conclude when your team of Pokémon faints or when victory is achieved. Importantly, you can only engage in a Power Stop Raid once at each individual stop’s location.

Dynamax Moves

For each Dynamax Pokemon, you’re allowed to use three unique Max Moves, tailored to the specific characteristics of the Pokemon. These abilities can be enhanced using Max Particles and relevant candy. You’ll earn some experience points as you level them up. Each distinct power comes with a brief description on the Power Up interface screen.

Mega Evolution and Dynamax

At present, it’s possible to Mega Evolve a Pokemon that can Dynamax, but you cannot Dynamax a Mega Evolved Pokemon. So, if you Mega Evolve a Pokemon with the Dynamax ability, you won’t be able to engage in Dynamax battles using that specific Pokemon. The button for this function is currently concealed within the user interface, possibly to prevent players from accidentally discovering it through trial and error.

Other notes

You cannot use a Master Ball to catch Max Pokemon at this time.
