Elizabeth Olsen Just Got Real About How Some Of Her Marvel Projects Are Better Than Others: 'When I Started I Was Used Well'

As a long-time Marvel fan and avid gamer who’s lost countless hours to the MCU, I can’t help but feel a deep connection with Elizabeth Olsen‘s portrayal of Wanda Maximoff. Her journey from an enigmatic antagonist in “Age of Ultron” to a fully-fledged hero and team member has been nothing short of captivating.

As a devoted Marvel fan, it’s no secret that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is continuously expanding, captivating us on the big screen as well as our small screens with a Disney+ subscription. Over the years, I’ve watched the Marvel movies in sequence, and some characters have truly stolen the show for me. One such character who consistently rises to the top as an audience favorite is Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch. Recently, Elizabeth Olsen, the actress who brings Wanda to life, shared her honest thoughts about her Marvel projects, stating, “From the beginning, I was utilized effectively.

WandaVision was a significant cultural milestone, boosting Olsen’s character as one of the most cherished heroes within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Though it seemed that Wanda met her demise at the end of Doctor Strange 2, fans remain optimistic that she might reappear in future Marvel films. In a recent interview with FM104, via YouTube, the actress openly discussed her time portraying the Scarlet Witch. To put it simply, here’s what she said:

One of my favorite characters to revisit is when there’s an opportunity to showcase her effectively. I feel fortunate that I was utilized well during Age of Ultron, but for a brief moment, it seemed like they didn’t know quite what to do with me. However, they eventually found ways to use the character effectively and in intriguing ways to tell fresh stories in new ways.

Here it is. Although she didn’t mention every project, she shared how fulfilling it has been to witness the evolution of her character throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She clearly took pleasure in portraying an antagonist in “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” eventually transitioning into a respected and valued team member.

It seems clear that Olsen may not have been overly enthused about her part in the movie “Civil War“. To be honest, she had rather scant resources to draw from in that box-office hit. However, she made a powerful comeback in “Infinity War“, only to be reduced to dust for most of “Endgame“.

Some viewers continue to express concern about Wanda’s transformation into a villain and apparent suicide in “Doctor Strange 2.” At this point, it’s undecided whether she’ll make another appearance in the MCU. However, some fans eagerly anticipate her potential return, particularly for the upcoming major event, “Avengers: Doomsday.” In a later interview, Elizabeth Olsen hinted at potentially playing Wanda once more.

If there’s a beneficial method to utilize her, I’d be more than willing to return, as long as it makes logical sense.

It’s encouraging indeed! At this moment, it doesn’t appear that Wanda will return soon, but Olsen seems open to the idea, depending on the storyline. Here’s hoping a fresh agreement gets signed quickly, given that Doomsday is projected to hit the screens in 2026.

Of course, there’s a project that some fans are hoping might include a cameo by Wanda: the new Agatha: All Along series. Kathryn Hahn’s title character was the villain of WandaVision, and her lack of powers was because they were drained by the Scarlet Witch herself. We’ll just have to wait and see as each new episode airs.

Here’s a possible way of paraphrasing: “The upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film set to premiere in theaters is titled Captain America: Brave New World, and it will be released on Valentine’s Day, February 14th. In the meantime, take a look at the movie release dates for 2025.
