As a long-time comic book enthusiast who grew up with the Venom saga, I must say that the latest trailer for “Venom: The Last Dance” has truly piqued my interest! From the looks of it, the franchise seems to be delving deeper into the rich tapestry of Venom’s mythology, which I appreciate.
From all indications, it appears that the upcoming film titled “Venom: The Last Dance,” set for release in 2024, could mark the end of Tom Hardy‘s journey alongside his symbiote companion, Venom. This final trailer promises an explosive conclusion to the franchise!
Indeed, the Venom series has done a commendable job expanding the lore surrounding the symbiote, despite the fact that its comic book origin was significantly altered in the first Venom film. It’s important to note that Venom’s origins have always been fluid in the comics as well. However, it is generally accepted that Venom and other symbiotes were created by Knull, a malevolent deity who forged the All-Black when his interstellar kingdom was under attack from the Celestials.
This, I believe, will be Knull in the movie Venom: The Last Dance.
In the context provided, Venom calls this danger his “originator.” Furthermore, when we observe this character in the trailer, he/it is encircled by something that Venom enthusiasts may recall as the Hive Mind, a unified force that drives symbiote behavior as they hunt for suitable hosts.
It gets pretty complicated.
Without a doubt, it’s worth acknowledging that Venom: The Last Dance takes a bold step into the more outlandish aspects of the Venom lore. Tom Hardy, along with his producing partner and director Kelly Marcel, have wholeheartedly incorporated the science fiction elements inherent to this character. From the glimpse we get in the trailer for this sequel, it appears that Venom proclaims his world is on its way to Earth, causing a great deal of turmoil.
Simultaneously, we encounter the typical ribald humor characteristic of the Venom series, such as the symbiote demanding funds for gambling or a tipsy man urinating on Eddie Brock’s open-toed sandals. Quite refined, indeed!
Is it clear to you which characters are featured in the trailer, excluding Spider-Man and any incarnation of Peter Parker (like Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, or Tobey Maguire)? There have been hints that suggest Tom Hardy’s character might be linked to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but if this is indeed the final Venom film, then it seems like the MCU might develop its own symbiote storyline, potentially in the upcoming Spider-Man 4 or even later on.
