The nomination of Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor, both for their roles in different series, brings back memories of the unforgettable Marcia Clark portrayal by Paulson in “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” – a performance that left us all speechless.
On September 15th, Dan and Eugene Levy will create history by becoming the first father-son duo to host the Emmys. Additionally, Eugene is nominated in the category of outstanding hosted nonfiction series or special for his Apple TV+ show titled The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy.
Additionally, you’ll find numerous families with more than one member participating – this year has seen a number of married couples and partners being put forward for nomination.

Sarah has been recognized in the category of Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her exceptional performance in Prime Video’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith, while Holland snagged a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Apple TV+’s The Morning Show.
After receiving an Emmy nomination, Paulson shared with THR that due to poor cell phone reception, she had somewhat forgotten about the day’s events. “I primarily remembered because I knew Holland could be nominated,” she explained. “I was eagerly awaiting to find out if it would happen. So I didn’t know whether my publicist was phoning me to confirm that Holland had been nominated or if I myself had been nominated, but the call wasn’t getting through. I continued driving down the hill. She kept calling, disconnecting, she kept calling, it kept disconnecting. And I thought, ‘Perhaps I’ll never know.’
Carrie Coon and her husband Tracy Letts had plenty to be happy about with their Emmy nominations. Coon was recognized in the lead actress category for drama series, specifically for her role as Bertha Russell on HBO’s The Gilded Age, marking her second nomination overall. Meanwhile, Letts received his first ever Emmy nomination in the guest actor category for drama series for his performance on HBO’s Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty.
In a conversation with THR, Coon mentioned that her husband was tuning into the livestream to find out if she got nominated. As soon as he heard my name announced, he switched it off. A few minutes later, I received a text saying, “Tracy has been nominated for guest actor!” At that moment, I was embracing my tearful son, and I quickly messaged Tracy. It was the first he learned about it, making the situation quite amusing.
Actress Naomi Watts garnered her inaugural Emmy nomination in the lead actress category for limited/anthology series, specifically for her portrayal of Babe Paley in FX’s “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans”. Interestingly, her spouse, Billy Crudup, who has been nominated previously on two occasions and won in 2020 for his work on “The Morning Show”, has once again been recognized for the same series. It’s worth noting that this comes after an award season where several real-life couples received nominations for their collaborations: Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach, Margot Robbie and Tom Ackerley, Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas, and Justine Triet and Arthur Harari, all in different projects.
Kaitlin Olson and Rob McElhenney, who are married and also co-stars on “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” were both recognized in this year’s Emmy nominations: Olson for her guest actress role on “Hacks,” and McElhenney for his executive producer work on “Welcome to Wrexham.” Interestingly, Olson has been nominated for the Emmys three times before, while McElhenney took home an award last year in the category of outstanding unstructured reality program for the same show.
Collaborations among couples are quite common nowadays. For instance, Paul W. Downs and his wife Lucia Aniello have both been nominated for writing the series Hacks, with Lucia receiving an additional nomination for directing as well. Moreover, the creators of Shogun, who are a married couple (Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks), have also received nominations. Not only were they recognized in the outstanding drama series category, but they were also nominated for their writing on the “Anjin” episode of Shogun. Rachel Kondo was furthermore acknowledged for her work on “Crimson Sky.
Finally, a reunion of sorts: Gary Oldman and Lesley Manville are both nominees this year. Oldman is nominated for lead actor in Slow Horses, while Manville gets the nod for her supporting actress work in The Crown. The two were married and even share grandchildren — but divorced in 1990.
