Fashion East SS25 Sees UK Designers Expand on Sensual Darkness

As a seasoned gamer of the fashion world, I can confidently say that Lulu Kennedy’s Fashion East continues to be the ultimate level-up for emerging British designers. The Spring/Summer 2025 runway was nothing short of a thrilling quest through the realms of avant-garde style.

Lulu Kennedy’s Fashion East is a powerful player in the British fashion scene. By fostering numerous successful designers, Fashion East continually provides a platform for emerging UK talent to present their designs to the industry spotlight. For the Spring/Summer 2025 season, Fashion East welcomed three fresh faces on the runway, with Olly Shinder making a comeback for his second appearance.

At the Truman Brewery in East London, a collective fashion show unfolded, featuring a gritty backdrop of peeling cement. Second-time participant Olly Shinder presented his second collection on the runway with 17 looks that blended sensuality and apocalyptic themes. The designs leaned towards gothic nautical aesthetics, starting with blackened uniforms adorned with frayed neck scarves. Shorts were oversized and exposed, held up by crossed suspenders on bare torsos, followed by khaki coordinated outfits, athletic tracksuits with collars, and costumes in navy with braided whips.

Next up was the presentation of Nuba’s SS25 “SIM” collection, showcasing their distinctive draping styles. The line started with long-sleeve dress shirts flipped over, featuring seductive neckline openings, followed by hooded tops, voluminous gowns, and slashed maxi skirts made of lustrous silk. In third position was Loutre, building on its skateboarding foundations, offering energetic streetwear that dominated the streets of Britain. The fashion show combined elements of New York and London, starting with oversized fur coats and worn-out baseball caps. Blazers adorned with draping were matched with shiny trousers, followed by fur-lined tracksuits, cable-knit zip-ups, and work jackets featuring numerous drawstrings, accompanied by denim shorts embellished with studs and trench coats with panels.
