As a cinephile with over three decades of movie-going experiences under my belt, I can confidently say that Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’s triumphant return to the box office is nothing short of magical! Tim Burton’s masterpiece has once again proved that some stories are timeless and that sequels can indeed be as enchanting as their predecessors.

Over the past two weekends, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” has been leading the pack at the box office. This Tim Burton production, a highly anticipated sequel to the 1988 original, raked in an estimated $51.7 million (according to The Numbers). With this success, it’s moving steadily towards a domestic total of $200 million, showcasing its infectious charm and dance moves.

Indeed, cinemagoers couldn’t resist watching the supernatural sequel daily during the past week – and it was a financial success every single day. After debuting strongly in its first weekend to mark the start of fall, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice dominated the box office from Monday through Thursday, maintaining its lead convincingly throughout the week.

Speak No Evil Silently Lays Claim to Silver Medal at Weekend Box Office

Last week’s top-grossing movie, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” continued its reign at the box office during the second weekend of September. However, the new entrant, “Speak No Evil,” managed to secure the No. 2 position. The film, featuring James McAvoy and a remake of the 2022 original, was expected to earn between $12 million and $20 million in its premiere. Unfortunately, it didn’t perform as well as anticipated.

Director James Watkins’ psychological horror movie, titled “Speak No Evil,” fell slightly short of its projected earnings, earning an estimated $11.5 million domestically instead. However, considering that the film was made with a production budget of just $15 million, Universal Pictures can claim a successful venture with this supposed remake. Furthermore, a well-known figure who enjoys eating chimichangas secures third place in the box office rankings.

In its eighth weekend, director Shawn Levy’s latest movie “Deadpool & Wolverine” has earned another $5.2 million, placing it third in terms of box office earnings. This new figure pushes the film up to the 14th spot on the list of highest-grossing domestic films of all time, according to Box Office Mojo. Furthermore, as “Deadpool 3” edges closer to $1.3 billion globally, the superhero movie is steadily approaching the worldwide earnings of “Frozen” ($1.306 billion) at the 22nd spot.

To everyone’s surprise, the documentary “Am I Racist?” claimed the No. 4 spot at the weekend box office, earning an impressive $4.8 million despite initially being expected to perform modestly. Meanwhile, the comedy starring Matt Walsh exceeded expectations with a production budget of around $3 million, raking in profits after opening in more than 1,500 theaters. The political biopic “Reagan” completed the Top 5 with $3 million, while “The Killer’s Game” featuring Dave Bautista could only muster $2.6 million during its premiere.

The upcoming animated adventure featuring Chris Hemsworth as young Optimus Prime (Orion Pax) and Brian Tyree Henry as Megatron (D-16), titled “Transformers One,” is set to hit theaters next weekend. Industry predictions estimate that this new Transformers movie could earn anywhere from $40 million to $50 million during its opening weekend. With a Tomatometer rating of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, the film’s positive reviews might boost those numbers even further as it expands in theaters.

With a strong debut in just seven theaters, my classic film is leading the pack this week with an impressive box office average of $24,535 per cinema.
