Brad Pitt and George Clooney Help Jimmy Kimmel Take Matt Damon Down

As a movie buff who has spent countless hours immersed in the silver screen world since my teenage years, I must say that the latest skit featuring Jimmy Kimmel, Brad Pitt, and George Clooney on Jimmy Kimmel Live! was an absolute riot. The long-standing feud between Kimmel and Matt Damon has been a source of endless entertainment for many, and this latest installment did not disappoint. It’s a testament to the power of comedy and the camaraderie between these Hollywood heavyweights that they can keep such a running gag going for almost two decades!

The ongoing satirical spat between Jimmy Kimmel and Matt Damon recently escalated with a side-splitting skit where Kimmel utilized some celebrity muscle to finally settle their age-old rivalry. The feud, which started in 2005 when Kimmel jokingly apologized for running out of time for Damon on his show, has been a recurring theme for over 17 years.

In an entertaining segment on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, I find myself sauntering into a room carrying a case brimming with cash, intended for none other than my Ocean’s Eleven comrades, Brad Pitt and George Clooney. They are prominently featured in their upcoming movie, Wolves, as fixers for hire. When they enquire about the target, I reveal a photo of myself and remark, “I require you to ensure he purchases the zoo, if you catch my drift.” This is a clever nod to my 2011 film, We Bought a Zoo, and is followed by Pitt and Clooney exchanging glances before Pitt closes the case and says, “We’ll take care of this one for free.” They then crack a joke about my devoted fans before the skit concludes. This humorous scene keeps the Damon-Kimmel rivalry alive, while also offering a sneak peek into what viewers can anticipate from Pitt and Clooney in their new movie, Wolves. Despite Mixed Reactions, A Sequel to Wolfs Is Already in Development

Debuting at the Venice Film Festival on September 1 and available on Apple TV+ starting September 27 after a brief theatrical release, “Wolfs” has received mixed reviews from critics to date. Mark Keizer from MovieWeb comments that the film seems like a farewell tribute for intricate heist films such as the Ocean’s series which catapulted Brad Pitt and George Clooney to international stardom. Meanwhile, Marshall Shaffer of Decider notes that while watching these two familiar actors interact is enjoyable, the lack of style or substance in the film can only carry it for a limited period. Ouch indeed!

The reviews for “Wolves” aren’t entirely negative. Nicholas Barber from the BBC describes it as a “reminiscence of the times when Hollywood stars didn’t exclusively play superheroes.” Indeed, those days seem like they belong to the past, don’t they? Kristy Puchko from Mashable says that “Wolves” is amusing in a way that feels old-fashioned but let’s call it timeless instead.

Regardless of the varied responses to Clooney and Pitt’s latest film, work on a sequel has already commenced. As reported by Deadline last month, Jon Watts is set to reprise his role as writer, director, and producer for the sequel, with Pitt and Clooney expected to return as the main actors. This decision by Apple, who have had a challenging year at the box office and are aiming to reduce costs, suggests great confidence in the film’s potential success on their streaming platform. However, it’s worth noting that similar expectations were placed on Killers of the Flower Moon, Argyle, and Napoleon, all films that fell short of financial targets.

Could it be that Wolfs may disappoint Apple once again? That’s a possibility, but who knows, we might just enjoy watching Clooney and Pitt bring their charm to the screen, providing us with a satisfying dose of dopamine as we reminisce about the golden era of buddy movies.
