As a longtime fan of dystopian YA stories and a devoted viewer of Netflix originals, I must say that Laverne Cox’s portrayal of Dr. Cable in “Uglies” has left me utterly spellbound. With her Emmy-nominated acting chops and captivating stage presence, she elevated the villain to new heights.

For Netflix subscribers, there’s a continuous flow of fresh content, with McG’s adaptation of “Uglies” being one of the latest additions. Based on the novels of the same name, this sci-fi tale presents an original perspective on a dystopian young adult story. Similar to many others, I caught “Uglies” during its premiere weekend on the streaming platform, and there’s an outstanding performance that we seem to be overlooking as a community.

Ever since its debut, the movie adaptation of “Uglies” has been a blockbuster sensation, holding the top position on Netflix for extended periods. Notably, Laverne Cox has discussed the film’s critique of unrealistic beauty norms, but her captivating portrayal as Dr. Cable truly deserves recognition. In fact, her performance leaves me eagerly anticipating a potential “Uglies” sequel on Netflix.

It’s not surprising that Laverne Cox, who is Emmy-nominated and known for her exceptional acting, delivered an outstanding performance in the show “Uglies“. Furthermore, as a stunning actress, she was an ideal choice to portray the beauty-obsessed character Dr. Cable for Netflix. Many believe that her performance was the best in the entire movie.

A significant reason for Cox’s compelling portrayal of Cable was her distinctive use of language. The actress from “Orange is the New Black” has a knack for making dialogue sound captivating, and the blend of her unique speech with the malevolent soliloquies from the “Uglies” villain created a powerful impact.

Given the additional storylines from the Young Adult novels, there might still be a chance that they choose to produce another film.
