The filming is set to kick off on October 24, with the source adding that this will signify the start of the initial shooting phase.
Previously, sources familiar with the project shared that Sanjay Leela Bhansali intends to independently produce Love and War without any involvement from film studios. This method of production mirrors that of studios such as YRF and Red Chillies. The source also mentioned that prior to filming even starting, Bhansali has secured a substantial post-cinema deal with Netflix and a near-record music contract with Saregama.
According to the report, the initial deal with Netflix is valued at approximately Rs 130 crore, and could potentially earn more if the film performs well at the box office. Moreover, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has signed a music contract worth Rs 35 crore with Saregama, and negotiations are ongoing for a satellite rights deal with a leading network, said to be around Rs 50 crore according to the source.
Love And War will hit theaters on March 20, 2026, coinciding with significant celebrations such as Ramzan, Ram Navami, and Gudi Padwa. This strategic timing could significantly enhance its earnings at the box office. Originally slated for a Christmas 2025 release, the film’s schedule has been adjusted.
In “Love And War”, Sanjay Leela Bhansali teams up with Vicky Kaushal for the first time, whereas he has previously partnered with Alia Bhatt on “Gangubai Kathiawadi” and with Ranbir Kapoor in his initial film “Saawariya”. Notably, this project will also bring Vicky Kaushal together again with Ranbir Kapoor following their hit collaboration in the 2018 biopic “Sanju”, and with Alia Bhatt, who he acted alongside in “Raazi” that same year.
