The Universal Pictures trilogy, which began in 1999 with “The Mummy”, was a massive success at the cinema. This led to two more movies being produced: “The Mummy Returns” in 2001 and “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor” in 2008.
After gaining fame in films such as “Encino Man,” “George of the Jungle,” and “The Quiet American,” Fraser stepped away from acting for a while, with no new film projects released between 2015 and 2018. Despite not having received an official offer for another “Mummy” movie, he suspects that fans of the franchise would be enthusiastic about it.
In the past few years, during what some call my break, I’ve been enjoying myself tremendously by attending fan conventions, mingling with everyone, expressing my appreciation to them directly for helping me reach my current position,” Fraser said to EW. “I think I’ve finally let go of my ego, as I no longer use excuses like ‘I’m too busy’ or ‘That’s not for me.’ I realized I needed to show more gratitude.
In the 2017 remake of “The Mummy,” Tom Cruise played a U.S. Army sergeant who unwittingly helps revive an Egyptian princess. However, this version didn’t garner the same positive response as Brendan Fraser’s original series.
