Agatha All Along Is Quietly Crushing With Audiences And Just Beat Captain America: The First Avenger In One Major Area

As a long-time Marvel fan who has witnessed the evolution of the cinematic universe since its humble beginnings, I must say that “Agatha All Along” has truly cast a spell on me. It’s only two episodes in, but it’s already surpassed the charm of “Captain America: The First Avenger,” at least among audiences. This series, streaming on Disney+, seems to have struck a chord with viewers, despite a few trolls here and there.

The highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe series, titled “Agatha All Along“, has now made its debut and seems to have captivated fans with a magical touch. In just two episodes, enthusiasts can’t stop talking about the series on social media platforms. Although it’s still early days, the show, which streams exclusively on Disney+ (one of the top streaming services), appears to have already achieved some notable successes. As it resonates subtly with viewers, it seems that “Agatha All Along” has surpassed “Captain America: The First Avenger” in one key aspect.

It appears that certain parts of the Internet are seeing some negative comments towards the series “Agatha All Along,” much like other Marvel Cinematic Universe shows in the past. However, despite this minor trolling, it has successfully amassed a dedicated fanbase judging by its Rotten Tomatoes audience score. At present, the series boasts an 81% rating on the aggregator site, which is higher than “The First Avenger’s” score of 75%. Interestingly, when comparing their critic ratings, both productions are currently tied at 80%.

Reflecting on the Marvel films sequentially, it’s striking how much I appreciate 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger as one of the less recognized gems within the cinematic universe. However, it’s hard to believe that it only earned a 75% audience rating. Yet, my admiration for this film should not detract from the excellent Agatha Harkness-focused limited series. The talented crew behind this show deserves recognition for their dedicated efforts.

Fans are drawn to several aspects of the series Agatha All Along, and one such element is its unique visual style. This aesthetic continues the slightly eccentric tone set in WandaVision, but it also pushes those boundaries even further. As a spinoff, Jac Schaeffer (who was also the showrunner of the original series) invites viewers on an immersive journey into the realm of witches. Along with some spooky scenes, there’s plenty of humor and camp, which can create a potent impact.

As a gamer diving into this narrative, it’s clear Jac Schaeffer aimed to captivate us with some innovative twists. In a recent chat with TopMob, she hinted at her creative vision (skirting around questions about Wanda Maximoff). The EP also shared her risk-taking approach, confessing that she wasn’t sure Disney would let her include a specific dialogue snippet in Episode 1. So far, the response to the series has been fantastic, suggesting that her bold moves have paid off.

Three years post-“WandaVision”, “Agatha All Along” revolves around the title character, Agatha, a witch, as she strives to reclaim her powers, having clashed with Wanda, also known as the Scarlet Witch. In pursuit of this goal, Agatha aligns with the enigmatic Teen and together they establish a coven, embarking on a risky journey along the Witches’ Road. The destination of their voyage piques curiosity, but it might be wiser to simply relish the trip itself.

I’m wondering if the supernatural show exceeds any other shows or movies within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in terms of any specific aspect, following the outstanding performance of Captain America: The First Avenger. Regardless, the creative team can find satisfaction knowing that they have outperformed one of the MCU’s most significant titles when it comes to audience appreciation.

Watch the series “Agatha All Along” when it airs its new episodes every Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT as part of the 2024 TV schedule, exclusively for Disney+ subscribers. Not only that, your subscription will grant you access to “Captain America: The First Avenger“. Lastly, stay tuned for updates on all upcoming Marvel shows in the pipeline.
