Blancpain Revisits the Air Command Series With Two Flyback Chronographs

As a seasoned collector with a penchant for vintage-inspired timepieces that echo the spirit of aviation, I am utterly smitten by Blancpain’s latest additions to their Air Command series. Having had the pleasure of admiring these beautiful chronographs, I can confidently say they exude an irresistible charm that speaks directly to my heart.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Blancpain is growing its Air Command series with not one, but two retro-inspired chronographs! Paying tribute to the iconic chronograph model from the ’50s, these new additions come in two distinct case sizes: a 42.5 mm for those who prefer a larger watch face, and a more petite 36.2 mm for those who appreciate a slimmer design on their wrist.

With a nostalgic vibe and aviator-inspired style, these items are enclosed in satin-brushed titanium and adorned in a camouflage green shade, extending from the dial to the leather band. The bezel, too, is made of titanium, offering a two-way rotating function. A black ceramic bezel insert provides a practical contrast, contributing to its functional aesthetic. The markings on the bezel correspond to the Arabic numerals and tachymeter on the dial, boasting a gentle, yellow hue that enhances its vintage allure.

Through the transparent caseback, you can see the rotating 18-karat gold component shaped like an old-fashioned airplane propeller – yet another reference to the watch’s aviation lineage and past.

Two models of Air Command Flyback Chronograph, one with a diameter of 42.5mm and another with a diameter of 36.2mm, run on self-winding mechanisms. The larger model utilizes the F388B movement, while the smaller one uses the F188B. The larger version is sold for $21,800 USD, whereas the smaller model retails at $20,500 USD. These watches will be exclusively available through Blancpain and are manufactured in limited quantities.
