Over a decade since Ryan Reynolds’ “Green Lantern” film fell short with audiences, this aspect of DC Comics mythology is preparing for another live-action appearance, but this time on television instead. Previously known as “Lanterns,” now set to air on HBO rather than exclusively streaming on Max, is part of the evolving DC Universe continuity, and in recent weeks, there have been whispers about potential actors for the role of Hal Jordan, one of the main characters. However, today, we have updates on the contenders for the role of John Stewart, and these are some impressive picks to portray the beloved Green Lantern character.
Not long after the news broke that Kyle Chandler might take on the role of Hal Jordan, with Josh Brolin backing out, The Hollywood Reporter has spilled the beans about Aaron Pierre and Stephan James being considered for breathing life into John Stewart. The article also hinted at Damon Idris being a potential pick at one stage, but it seems he’s no longer in the running. As for John, this would be his debut on the big screen, even though Wayne T. Carr was once slated to portray him in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and aspects of the character were blended into the Arrowverse’s John Diggle.
