Kalki Koechlin admits being in polyamory relationships in her younger days; says 'I wasn’t interested in settling down'

As an ardent admirer of Kalki Koechlin, I find her journey through life and love to be nothing short of fascinating. From Leni/Chanda in Dev D to her recent role in Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, Kalki has consistently proven her versatility as an actress. However, it’s her personal life that often steals the limelight.

Kalki Koechlin, who recently appeared in the series “Kho Gaye Hum Kahan” (2023), has been a prominent figure in Bollywood for more than 15 years. Her first major role was as Leni/Chanda in Anurag Kashyap’s 2009 film, Dev D. The actress frequently makes news not just for her acting career but also for her personal life and dating history. In a recent revelation, Kalki confessed to having polyamorous relationships during her younger years. She expressed no desire to settle down during that time.

In a recent conversation with Hauterrfly, Kalki Koechlin was questioned about her ability to maintain a polyamorous relationship. Kalki explained that as a married woman with a child, she currently lacks the time for such a relationship.

Sharing her past experiences, Kalki mentioned that she has been involved in similar relationships before. The actress emphasized that although polyamory is a personal decision, it’s crucial for those who engage in it to consider guidelines and limits.

In a different phrasing, the actress from Dev D added that it’s unlikely the connection is from your social network, as most individuals tend not to delve into such intimate relationships. Nevertheless, she has observed instances where people have successfully maintained both a traditional family setup and a polyamorous relationship simultaneously.

Reflecting on those times, the actress from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara commented, “That phase of my life was unique and I was significantly younger. I wasn’t yearning for a settled life, so it felt right. The concept was to serve as each other’s primary companion yet also engage in an adventure or experiment.

Kalki shared that she can’t commit to a lengthy polyamorous bond as some others do who are fond of such relationships.

To those not familiar, Kalki Koechlin was once married to movie director Anurag Kashyap. Their marriage took place in 2011 but ended in separation in 2013 and they finalized their divorce in 2015.

Currently, Kalki is wedded to her spouse, Guy Hershberg. Together, they are proud parents of their little girl, Sappho, who made her arrival into the world in the year 2020.

In her professional career, Kalki Koechlin is also recognized for roles in films such as That Girl in Yellow Boots, Shaitan, Margarita with a Straw, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Gully Boy, and many others.
