Hailing from the Republic of Congo, Mr. Mutombo developed a passion for basketball during his adolescent years and ultimately secured a scholarship to attend Georgetown University, playing under the legendary coach John Thompson. After three impactful years at the university, Mutombo decided to enter the 1991 NBA Draft and was chosen by the Denver Nuggets as the fourth overall pick. Renowned for his imposing defensive abilities, this 7’2″ center gained notoriety for his extraordinary block shots and the habit of shaking his finger at opponents following each one. Over his tenure with teams such as the Nuggets, Atlanta Hawks, 76ers, Houston Rockets and others, Dikembe Mutombo earned eight All-Star nods, three All-NBA designations, six spots on the Defensive Team, and four Defensive Player of the Year titles, along with numerous other honors.
