Joker 2 Director Todd Phillips Tells Us Why Refuses To Read Any Of The Online Rumors About His Sequel

As a long-time fan of both Todd Phillips and the Joker franchise, I find myself eagerly anticipating the release of “Joker: Folie à Deux”. The hype surrounding this film has been palpable for quite some time now, with fans speculating about every detail from the plot to the music.

Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga are two well-known artists who have faced both praise and criticism throughout their careers. It’s no surprise, then, that the upcoming movie “Joker: Folie à Deux” is generating just as much buzz. From the confirmed hit track by Lady Gaga for the film, to the mysteries surrounding its plot details, fans are abuzz with excitement about the sequel to Todd Phillips’ 2019 Best Picture-nominated Joker film. However, Phillips himself may not be privy to these discussions, as he has yet to read any information about it.

During our chat prior to the new sequel’s launch, Todd Phillips himself shared this tidbit when I brought up online discussions:

To put it in my own words as a movie enthusiast: Frankly speaking, I don’t typically get involved in projects like this, given the cacophony of creative chaos that surrounds filmmaking these days. It’s crucial to find your vantage point high above the fray – at 30,000ft, so to speak – to avoid being overwhelmed by the noise and confusion. After all, the din can drive one mad if you let it!

It’s perfectly logical, given Todd Phillips’ earlier statements about how external focus can hinder creativity. As reviews for the project come out, some not so favorable, navigating through all the varying opinions and gossip could prove a dangerous path.

Despite the director not considering the movie as a sequel, it’s quite logical that he’d compare its quality to Joker and its unprecedented success. This expectation combined with endless conjectures would be incredibly frustrating for anyone, ironically mirroring the impact of Joker in stimulating discourse about regular people’s mental health issues.

Despite not being entirely off the grid, Todd Phillips has still found time to share his excitement on social media following the premiere of “Joker: Folie à Deux” at the Venice Film Festival. Given the film’s exceptional original music and electrifying chemistry between its stars, it’s easy to see why he’s so thrilled about it. Our very own Sean O’Connell has been raving about it, unable to stop thinking about it – which might indicate that it’s a movie worth watching!

The sequel to “Joker,” titled “Madness Shared,” will hit theaters nationwide on October 4! Will it rule the box office as its predecessor did? Stay tuned here at TopMob to find out.
