On October 5th, let’s toast to James Bond Day by sipping a classic martini (shaken, not stirred) and diving into all 25 official Bond adventures, now streaming globally on a popular platform! The authentic James Bond Twitter account announced that every mission, from Connery to Craig, is now available for streaming. So, get ready to dive headfirst into the thrilling universe of Britain’s iconic secret agent and enjoy the non-stop action!

This week on October 5th, which commemorates the initial release of the first official James Bond film, “Dr. No,” in 1962, you might not have known about James Bond Day yet. Featuring Sean Connery, widely regarded as the finest portrayal of the character, and directed by Terence Young, “Dr. No” set the stage for the franchise. In this movie, Bond is sent to Jamaica to probe into the vanishing of a British agent colleague of his.

Connery’s additional appearances as James Bond include “From Russia with Love,” “Goldfinger,” “Thunderball,” and “You Only Live Twice.” After that, Australian actor George Lazenby took on the role in “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” once before Connery came back for another round in “Diamonds Are Forever.” The less serious Bond era started with Roger Moore, who starred in “Live and Let Die,” “The Man with the Golden Gun,” “The Spy Who Loved Me,” “Moonraker,” “For Your Eyes Only,” “Octopussy,” and “A View to a Kill,” before being replaced by Timothy Dalton’s more serious Bond in “The Living Daylights” and “Licence to Kill.

The Bond that captivated many from a particular generation was none other than Pierce Brosnan, who starred in movies such as GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, and Die Another Day. However, when the franchise was revitalized with Daniel Craig’s more rugged portrayal of Bond in Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre, and No Time to Die, this marked a significant shift, bringing this phase of the series to an unexpected and conclusive close.

As a cinephile thrilled by the escapades of 007, I’m excited to share that my go-to streaming service, Amazon, has taken on the task of hosting all the Bond films, following their acquisition of MGM in 2022. Although Amazon now owns the distributor, it’s Eon Productions who continue to wield creative control over the iconic secret agent, as they shape the future of this beloved franchise.

As a devoted fan, I must admit that I’m eagerly anticipating the next move by the studio regarding James Bond, following Daniel Craig’s poignant farewell in 2021’s “No Time to Die.” The Craig era has breathed new life into the series, with the character earning his license to kill and embarking on a raw, realistic journey that’s been traced across sequels. These films have broken away from the traditional standalone format, weaving a more cohesive five-movie saga. I can hardly wait to see where they take this iconic character next!

With Craig’s departure from the role, fans are curious about who will take over as 007 next. Might the studio choose a younger actor this time, delving into Bond’s early days and origins? Or could they opt to travel back in time, setting the franchise within the era of Ian Fleming’s novels? Alternatively, it could be that we’ll see the series revert to its roots, featuring high-tech gadgets and supernatural missions once again.

Which actor will step up to embody James Bond in this upcoming new version? At the moment, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Henry Cavill, Damson Idris, James Norton, and Regé-Jean Page are the top contenders. However, there’s a new name in the running – Aaron Pierre from Rebel Ridge. Some enthusiastic Bond fans have even suggested bringing back an old favorite, Pierce Brosnan, for one more thrilling adventure.

Currently, Eon Productions is said to be meeting with prospective directors. Some of the leading contenders for this position are Edward Berger, who won an Academy Award for All Quiet on the Western Front, Kelly Marcel from Venom: The Last Dance, renowned Australian filmmaker David Michôd known for works like Animal Kingdom, The Rover, Bart Layton, famous for films such as The Imposter, American Animals, and Yann Demange of ’71, Top Boy fame.

All 25 official James Bond films are now available to stream on Prime Video.
