Nate Bargatze, Stand-Up Darling, Joins Advisory Board of Directors at National Comedy Center

As a die-hard comedy enthusiast who’s had the privilege of laughing through countless hours of stand-up performances, I couldn’t be more thrilled to see Nate Bargatze joining the advisory board at The National Comedy Center. This man has made me roll on the floor with laughter time and again, and now he’s helping shape the future of comedy education and preservation!

Nate Bargatze has secured another performance opportunity, further enhancing his thriving stand-up career and recent role as a popular Saturday Night Live host. Now, he’s part of the advisory board for The National Comedy Center.

Based in Jamestown, New York, The National Comedy Center was established only a few years back. It serves as America’s official museum and archive dedicated to the craft of comedy. In his newly appointed position, Bargatze will assist in steering the nonprofit organization towards its goal: sharing the history of comedy, educating visitors about comedic arts, and preserving this heritage for future generations to appreciate.

Bargatze declared, ‘Every time I visit the National Comedy Center in Jamestown, I spend hours engrossed in the displays. It’s the only place that truly honors the heart of our craft. For an artist, it’s a testament to what we dedicate ourselves to, and for regular visitors, it offers a glimpse behind the scenes of what makes comedy an art form. The whole experience is incredible.’

In his new role as a board member, Nate Bargatze will team up with Amy Poehler in 2022, joining an impressive lineup of comedic greats like W. Kamau Bell, Lewis Black, Tiffany Haddish, Paul Feig, Laraine Newman, and Jim Gaffigan. “Stand-up comedy holds a special place for me,” shares Jim Gaffigan, “and I’m thrilled to have my fellow enthusiast, Nate, on board, as he appreciates the importance of preserving our craft’s history while promoting its growth.

Before becoming well-known in mainstream circles just recently, Bargatze was often referred to as “the favorite comedian of many other comedians,” a title shared with Chappelle Roan and Sasha Colby. He’s set to return as the host of Saturday Night Live on October 5, marking his second time on the Studio 8H stage after last year. He has released several stand-up specials on Netflix and more recently on Prime Video. Notably, in December, his first primetime special will debut on CBS and be streamable on Paramount+.

Journey Gunderson, director of the National Comedy Center, praised Nate, saying that he’s deeply involved in our endeavor to safeguard the extensive history of comedy. Not only is he shaping modern comedy and creating a new standard with his work and dedication to the art form, but he’s also respecting the legacy of the many artists who paved the way before him.

In the year 2023, Bargatze established Nateland Entertainment, a company that focuses on creating content suitable for all ages. This includes standup performances, shows, skits, scripted films and TV series, podcasts, and music, as well as his own podcast named The Nateland Podcast.
