John Amos Will Make Final On-Screen Appearance in NBC's Suits: LA

As I reflect upon the life and career of John Amos, it is truly awe-inspiring to witness such a prolific and illustrious journey. From his groundbreaking roles in “Good Times,” “Roots,” and “The West Wing,” to his unforgettable appearances in “Coming to America” and the upcoming “Suits: LA,” Amos has left an indelible mark on our collective consciousness, transcending the boundaries of race, age, and genre.

The final appearance of John Amos is set for the upcoming NBC series “Suits: LA,” which was officially commissioned in July. Although the specific release date for this spin-off of the popular legal drama hasn’t been announced yet, it may premiere as early as 2025. In the meantime, fans can catch a sneak peek of Amos playing a client at Ted Black’s (Stephen Amell) law firm in “Suits: LA” (see image below).

53-year-old Kelly Christopher “K.C.” Amos, Amos’ son, announced through a statement (as reported by Entertainment Weekly) that his father will be featured on an upcoming NBC show in the near future.

“Throughout his lifetime, my father found great joy in acting. His recent roles, such as appearing as himself on Suits: L.A. and our documentary chronicling his career journey titled ‘America’s Dad,’ are a testament to the impact he will continue to make on television and film.”

K.C., known for his role on Star Trek: The Next Generation, has recently been in the news due to the passing of his father. The Amos family claims that John may have been a victim of elder abuse, as they allege he was “secluded” from many of his loved ones by KC Amos, Eugene Brummet, and Belinda Foster. According to TMZ, the family’s statement starts with this assertion: “During the past year, John Amos was kept apart from his family and close friends by KC Amos, Eugene Brummet, and Belinda Foster.

84-year-old actor John Amos passed away on August 21, 2024. Despite this, his family’s troubles persist, and it has been disclosed that his daughter was among those who learned of his demise through media reports, alongside the general public. A recent report published on October 2 further reveals concerns within the Amos family that John may have been not just secluded, but neglected as well. The family’s statement to TMZ reads:

Despite our persistent efforts to keep in touch, KC consistently blocked access, supervised and restricted calls, cut off relationships with John’s daughter Shannon Amos, brother Leslie ‘Syl’ Franklin, grandchildren Quiera Colston and Jhazz Williams, business manager Paul Baldessare, god-daughter Amy Goudy, niece Sherri Korsun, former accountant, and other close relatives, friends, and confidants.

Amos’ family told TMZ that KC frequently provided John with suggestions for crafting misleading social media stories, which they found troubling because it seemed like their father might have been overlooked and secluded during his last days. They were worried based on photos received from concerned neighbors and a healthcare professional. The statement also hints at KC’s battles with substance abuse and psychological problems as potential reasons for this situation.

It seems there are significant questions that require answers, given our belief that KC might have arranged for John Amos’s cremation without informing the family. We’re suspicious that such actions could have been taken to manipulate potential wills or claim insurance and other benefits. The situation becomes even more worrying due to KC’s past struggles with addiction, mental health issues, and prior arrests.

TMZ contacted Belinda Foster and K.C. Amos regarding the family’s recent accusations, but neither has replied yet. Consequently, the sensational story surrounding the deceased actor’s kin is still making headlines. Let’s hope it doesn’t eclipse John Amos’ exceptional career, which includes his return to a cherished role as Cleo McDowell in Coming 2 America.

Viewers will get to see Amos’ last screen appearance when the series Suits: L.A. premieres on NBC, which is expected between 2025 and 2026.
