Telegram unveils gifts, verification feature as TON fails to pump

As a seasoned crypto investor with battle-scarred fingers from the rollercoaster ride of digital assets, I must admit, I am finding it perplexing that Toncoin (TON) remains stubbornly resistant to the positive waves generated by Telegram’s recent feature announcements. Having witnessed numerous price surges due to similar developments in the past, I find myself scratching my head over TON’s muted response.

Despite the recent announcement of new features on Telegram, Toncoin‘s value hasn’t shown an increase.

In simpler terms, while Telegram introduced a gift-giving option along with some other new features in their app, Toncoin (TON) hasn’t experienced an increase in value as anticipated on social media platforms following this announcement.

Currently, TON is being traded at $5.22 per unit, marking a 2.7% decrease in its value within the past 24 hours. As reported by CoinGecko, the price drop extends to more than 10% over the last week.

Generally speaking, a significant announcement tends to trigger an increase in price, often referred to as a ‘price pump’. Yet, contrary to the general trend of slightly favorable crypto market situations, TON has persistently continued on its downward trajectory instead.

Telegram users can now send gifts to friends

In simpler terms, Telegram’s recent update introduces an exciting new function that allows users to exchange virtual presents with each other. These gifts can be showcased on the sender’s and receiver’s profiles as decorative items, or they can be transformed into sparkling stars.

According to Pavel Durov, the CEO of Telegram, certain presents are scarce and there’ll be an added function to transform these unique gifts into Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) based on the TON platform.

Besides revealing that particular detail, Telegram additionally unveiled a business platform for verifying customer mobile numbers.

Furthermore, Telegram has enhanced its system for handling reports. According to their statement, moderators on the platform remove countless pieces of content that breach their terms of use.

Now, they’ve expanded the system’s functionalities to accommodate a broader range of violation types and details.

iOS receives redesigned video chats

As a cryptocurrency investor, I’m always keeping an eye out for advancements across various platforms, and today, I’m thrilled about the news from Telegram. They’ve overhauled their video chat functionality on iOS devices, aiming to boost both battery life and performance. This upgrade promises a smoother experience for all of us who value seamless communication while preserving our mobile power reserves.

As an analyst, I’d rephrase it like this: During extended calls, particularly those involving multiple video streams from numerous participants, devices maintain a significantly reduced heat level compared to before.

As a crypto enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that my Android device can now stream live content using RTMP! Previously, this feature was exclusive to iOS and desktop users, but the expansion to Android makes it even more accessible for us all to engage in real-time streaming experiences.

Despite all the new features, TON is putting on a muted performance. TON was trading above $8 during mid-2024.

However, the price took a hit when Durov was arrested. However, the price is now recovering slowly.
