Star Trek's LeVar Burton Shared A Sweet Anniversary Photo Of His Wedding Day, And I'm So Happy The TNG Cast Was There To Support Him

As a die-hard Star Trek fan who’s been beaming through the cosmos since the original series debuted, it’s a thrill to delve into the personal lives of our beloved characters – especially when they intersect as beautifully as LeVar Burton‘s wedding day with his fellow TNG cast members. The photo of them, all out of uniform and looking like a time-traveling reunion of youthful vigor, is a sight to behold!

While I eagerly anticipate the arrival of new “Star Trek” series on Paramount+ in 2025 for streaming, it’s time to raise a toast to one of the franchise’s beloved figures – LeVar Burton. He just marked a significant anniversary with his wife, Stephanie Cozart, and the picture from their wedding day with the “The Next Generation” cast is simply breathtaking.

In October, Halloween isn’t just what’s being celebrated; it’s also the month when LeVar Burton, famously known for his role in Picard, tied the knot with his wife. To mark this special occasion, he shared a post and included a picture featuring her, along with his cherished co-stars.

Moving from left to right, you’ll notice Jonathan Frakes, his wife Genie Francis, Patrick Stewart, the newly married couple, Michael Dorn, Marina Sirtis, Gates McFadden, and Brent Spiner. It’s quite surprising since I recently watched them in Star Trek: Picard Season 3, but it’s astonishing to see the entire cast without their costumes, and they appear considerably younger. I must admit, I’m not accustomed to seeing Michael Dorn without his prosthetics, and it’s as surprising as some of TNG‘s most eccentric episodes.

As a dedicated gamer, I couldn’t help but notice that Wil Wheaton isn’t in this snapshot, leaving me wondering if he attended the wedding. By 1992, he had already bid farewell to his regular role on Star Trek: The Next Generation, making only two appearances in Season 5, specifically in “The Game” and “The First Duty.” This could explain his absence from the picture or the event itself, but it’s all just guesswork on my part.

32 Famous Guest Stars We Loved On Star Trek: The Next Generation

This series had some of the best guest stars.

After a thorough search, I successfully uncovered additional details regarding LeVar Burton’s special day. The information came from his former “Picard” castmate and daughter, Mica Burton, who shared more photos from that occasion in 2016. In the wedding party were Stewart, Frakes, Dorn, and Spiner, with Spiner serving as best man, as revealed in an interview he gave to People magazine, while the others took on groomsmen roles.

It’s quite refreshing to view these images shared by LeVar Burton, especially since we might not get another chance to see this group on screen together as a series. However, Michael Dorn has pointed out that in the universe of Star Trek, the story never truly ends, so perhaps it’s too soon to lose hope that this team could reappear in a series or film. Patrick Stewart did hint at a script being developed for Jean-Luc Picard, which makes me think that we shouldn’t completely dismiss the possibility.

At present, it appears that the cast from “The Next Generation” is noticeably missing from upcoming “Star Trek” productions. However, given the unpredictability of space with its temporal distortions and anomalies, I can’t completely dismiss the possibility of a shocking appearance by one of these actors reprising their characters in “Strange New Worlds” Season 3 or elsewhere. Since “Lower Decks” is also set within the same timeline, it wouldn’t be difficult to introduce any of the cast members there, so we might see them sooner rather than later.

1) Check out “Star Trek: The Next Generation” on Paramount+, or keep an eye out for its airing on Pluto TV’s exclusive Star Trek channel. No matter what new adventures are coming up, it’s always a great moment to follow Captain Picard and his team as they explore the universe!
