‘To Be Honest With You, I’ve Been Disappointed In Turner For A Long Time.’ Charles Barkley Gets Real About Why He Has Issues With His TV Bosses

‘To Be Honest With You, I’ve Been Disappointed In Turner For A Long Time.’ Charles Barkley Gets Real About Why He Has Issues With His TV Bosses

As a lifelong fan of Charles Barkley and his unparalleled ability to speak his mind, I find myself deeply moved by his recent statements regarding his professional growth and partnership with Turner (now Warner Bros. Discovery).

For over two decades, Charles Barkley has shared the spotlight on the beloved show “Inside the NBA“. Lately, the show’s future seems uncertain, with rumors of cancellation looming. Through all this drama, Barkley has expressed his disappointment with how the situation has been managed by those in charge. Recently, it appears that the ex-Phoenix Sun has developed additional concerns about the treatment he’s received from the network, which was established by Turner. In particular, Barkley has openly discussed his belief that his career advancement opportunities have been limited.

2018 marked the inception of my own production company, Round Mound Media. While it’s been a bit quiet around here, I’m thrilled to announce that things are about to pick up! In partnership with EverWonder Studio, we’re rejuvenating the brand and I couldn’t be more excited.

Frankly speaking, I’ve been feeling let down by Turner for quite some time now. This is because I believe that three years ago was the right time for more of my television productions to be in place. To put it simply, they haven’t been an ideal collaborator when it comes to my production work. However, during my basketball career, they’ve been a fantastic partner. In fact, I hold the Turner family in high regard due to their support in my basketball ventures. But regarding my television productions, I feel it should have started around five years ago. Ideally, I would have had 20-30 projects by now.

It’s important to note that Turner Broadcasting, as we know it, no longer exists, since most of its assets have been acquired by Warner Bros. Discovery. The 11-time NBA All-Star made clear his sentiments (as expressed on YouTube) regarding the perceived negative impact he believes his career in production has suffered.

To set the record straight, you won’t see me on television. Instead, my role is to assist others in achieving success. However, my relationship with Turner has not been optimal as I believe I should have progressed much further by now. Recently, Jeff has entered the scene and I hope he can elevate my company to new heights.

Charles Barkley believes that if TNT loses the rights to the sports league, it’s unlikely that Inside the NBA would be transferred to another network.

The Jeff being mentioned is Jeff Zucker, who previously collaborated with Sir Charles at WarnerMedia and was in charge of Turner Sports and CNN. Currently, he manages RedBird IMI, a company that supports Round Mound Media as stated by Awful Annoucing. Additionally, it’s important to note that TNT Sports has an exclusive agreement with RMM, ensuring their participation in this project. The future will reveal how this partnership unfolds.

Charles Barkley is simultaneously working towards growing his production company and retracting his retirement statements, which left fans in a state of shock this past summer. The announcement had an additional impact on supporters who were already grappling with the future of Inside the NBA. Not only has the former Houston Rocket criticized Warner Bros. Discovery for perceived mismanagement, but he also voiced concerns about the NBA. Barkley asserted that the league prioritized financial gains over its fanbase after it was reported that WBD had matched Amazon’s bid for the rights to broadcast the league.

Charles Barkley’s recent comments on his relationship with his superiors further demonstrate his straightforward approach when he has strong feelings about a matter. It’s clear that he is deeply invested in both “Inside the NBA” and his Round Mound Media venture. I find myself eager to see where these long-standing sports show and Barkley’s personal image will go in the future.
