There’s A Big Reason Andrew Garfield Thought Spider-Man: No Way Home’s Big Return Would Never Happen. Why It Ended Up Being ‘The Best’

As a die-hard Spidey fan who has been following the web-slinging adventures of our favorite wall-crawler for decades, I can confidently say that “Spider-Man: No Way Home” was an absolute game-changer. Seeing three generations of Peter Parkers on screen together was nothing short of mind-blowing and a testament to the enduring appeal of the Spider-Man franchise.

In a stunning turn of events, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” truly lived up to expectations, wrapping up Tom Holland’s three-movie adventure as Peter Parker in an incredibly satisfying manner. The film left audiences spellbound by reuniting former Spider-Men Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire on screen. It’s still hard for many fans to accept the reality of seeing all three Peter actors together. Recently, Andrew Garfield shared his thoughts on the sequel’s surprising returns, revealing the major doubt he harbored about its feasibility. Moreover, he elaborated on why this unique situation ultimately turned out to be “the best.

As a devoted fan, I might recall the prelude to “No Way Home“‘s premiere when Andrew Garfield found himself in a spot where he had to conceal his part in it. While some may have trusted him, others likely harbored doubts. It appears now, from the remarks he’s made since, that it wasn’t much of a struggle for him to join the project. However, in an interview with Esquire (as seen on YouTube), he admitted that he wasn’t entirely convinced Sony and Marvel Studios could successfully weave the three-Spidey narrative, considering Tobey Maguire’s recent activities.

I considered, ‘Tobey might not be keen on that.’ Every decade seems to be his cycle. Unfortunately, I’ve let him know about it. When I learned he was showing interest, I felt, ‘This could be the best or the worst thing ever.’

Tobey Maguire, famously known for his role in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films, was indeed ready to reprise his character again. However, despite Andrew Garfield being a hot topic ahead of the third installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series, Tobey Maguire seemed relatively overlooked, surprisingly. A video shared on Twitter in 2021 demonstrated that Maguire handled spoilers quite differently than his fellow actors. Specifically, when a fan asked if he would be in the movie, Maguire merely winked and smiled.

In the end, watching all three actors in No Way Home was a delightful experience. It was particularly enjoyable for Andrew Garfield, as he got to share scenes with his fellow web-slinging co-stars. One reason he considered it the “best” was due to the reduced pressure he and the Pawn Sacrifice star felt in comparison to other projects.

I’m incredibly thankful since it turned out to be an extremely delightful experience for me, with all the stress falling on Tom. Tobey and I were simply able to enter the scene, enjoying warm welcomes, and then essentially fade away unnoticed. It was absolutely wonderful!

As a diehard gamer, I firmly believe that with just one announcement, Andrew Garfield could save the Sony Spider-Man universe. Frankly, I think it’s high time he made his move!

In essence, Tom Holland bore most of the responsibility since the film was the third solo installment in his superhero series. However, if gossip is true, both Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire might step back into the limelight again. Reports suggest that these two actors are being considered for upcoming Marvel projects where they could reprise their characters. Of course, this is just speculation, but Garfield himself has hinted at a potential return by expressing an enthusiastic interest in reprising his role. So while it’s all up in the air for now, a comeback isn’t out of the question.

Right now, fans are eagerly anticipating what’s next for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man after the ending of “No Way Home”. It appears that a fourth movie is being developed, but as of yet, there’s no set release date. I’m just thankful that Holland got to work with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire at least once, and it seemed like they all had a great time.
