‘Halo’ Developer 343 Industries Rebrands, Moves to Unreal Engine 5

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say, the news about 343 Industries rebranding to Halo Studios has sent a thrill down my spine! The original developers behind one of my all-time favorite franchises, Halo, are back and better than ever.

343 Industries, known for creating the popular game ‘Halo’, has revealed its intention to change its name to Halo Studios. Additionally, they have a number of upcoming projects in development and plan to transfer the ‘Halo’ series to Unreal Engine 5.

In 2007, Microsoft established the studio following the separation of the original Halo developer, Bungie, which went on to operate independently.

In essence, Pierre Hintze, the studio head, stated that if you analyze Halo carefully, it has gone through two distinct phases: one led by Bungie and another by 343 Industries. Given our enthusiastic audience, we’re not just aiming to streamline development but to revolutionize the approach to creating Halo games. Consequently, we’re beginning a fresh chapter today.

Following their decision to transfer “Halo” from Slipspace to Unreal, the studio has since been engaged in Project Foundry – a comprehensive exploration across multiple disciplines, aimed at understanding how they can construct the game within the new engine. A sneak peek at the upgraded version of the game was provided by Halo Studios, displaying intricate landscapes from Coldlands and Blightlands, as well as the iconic Master Chief clad in armor.

Take a look at the revamped Halo above.
