Yet, despite its flaws, it’s this very show that we can’t help but love to criticize!

10 Luc’s Earbud Presentation
In the second episode of the season, it falls to Luc to head up the Bucheron presentation, despite his protests that he’s not quite up to the job. To be honest, this shouldn’t cause too much trouble since Luc has been preparing for this event for months. However, Luc maintains that his role is in logistics, not the finer details. Unfortunately, Luc needs to be thoroughly briefed and even given specific lines to recite by Julien. With no room for improvisation at all, he appears for the presentation with an AirPod clearly visible in his ear.
Amateur Hour
Given the man’s experienced age and the prestige of Agence Grateau, it seems implausible that Luc couldn’t perform his duties effectively. After all, Julien’s speech during the presentation was incoherent and confusing, making one cringe. At a certain moment, Luc even referred to the clients as fools. It was so embarrassing that it’s surprising the clients didn’t walk out, as many viewers would have preferred to do. Disgrace on you, Luc. (Paraphrased)

She struggles not only with speaking it but also comprehending it, which has been one of the major issues this season, as evident when Genevieve intentionally misinterpreted Gabriel’s breakup speech to widen the rift between them. Given her professional and residential ties with France, one might expect her to prioritize learning French or at least use language-learning apps like DuoLingo. Moreover, her growing affection for a Frenchman makes this situation even more intriguing.
It seems that Emily has quite a bit to learn about Paris beyond its fashion, if only she dedicated similar energy to mastering the local language rather than just romantic involvements.
8 Emily and Alfie’s Public Goodbye Kiss
Emily often struggles to separate business and personal matters. This season starts with Emily urging Alfie to join her at the French Open for another Ami advertising campaign, which involves a public display of affection. Although he arrives just in time, Emily is disheartened when he confesses that he’s felt uneasy about Gabriel throughout their relationship. As the crowd applauds, the couple exchange their final kiss.

For most people, kiss-cams can be quite awkward, but when Emily was forced to share her last kiss with Alfie in such a public way, it took things to an entirely different level of uncomfortable. It’s hard to conceive of anything more humiliating than having a crowd cheer for you while your heart is shattering into pieces. And to make matters worse, their ad is everywhere in town, serving as a constant reminder of what could have been. Truly, it feels like a dagger straight through the heart. This level of embarrassment is so profound that it almost makes you wish he hadn’t shown up at all. In terms of public breakups, Emily certainly takes the cake for most devastating displays.
7 Camille’s Flailing Life
Apart from her questionable fashion choices, Cami seems to be causing quite a stir this season. She recently discovered she wasn’t actually pregnant, yet chose to continue the charade, causing tension between Gabriel and Emily despite being in a relationship with Sofia. Her tumultuous love life and dubious decisions have left many questioning her actions. It appears that Cami’s self-centered unpredictability has become an unwelcome distraction in Darren Star’s romantic comedy series.
Quarter-Life Crisis
Given that Cami was the one who ended their wedding, her persistent efforts to reconnect with Gabriel are both embarrassing and disheartening. It’s quite challenging to observe a character who wants to have her benefits and enjoy them – rather reminiscent of Marie Antoinette. So when her flight to Chicago gets canceled, leaving her to spend the holidays with Gabriel, Cami, and their family in Megève – an upscale village in the French Alps – one might expect her to pack her family’s traditional tacky Christmas sweaters. However, she doesn’t do that, causing a bit of a predicament.

Emily’s first wearing of that tacky sweater was intentionally awkward, but she pulled it off perfectly. Everyone around her is staring in distaste – the sheer embarrassment of a Rudolph Christmas sweater at a villa feels palpable. It’s gaudy, it flashes, and it’s incredibly annoying. Everyone wishes it would just stop.

It’s not that Cami is pregnant with her boyfriend’s baby or that they all live in the same building, it’s their secluded, long-awaited sexy night on the roof? Two thumbs down for this cringe reaction from Emily, making her even more blah than ever.

In Episode 2, Emily locates her, and surprisingly, Cami is sulking in a rowboat situated in the heart of a pond in Giverny – a popular spot for those who stray from their fiancés, accuse them of loving someone else at their wedding, and then vanish mysteriously. In an attempt to address the issue, Emily hops into her own rowboat, leading to a heated argument between the two that ends with both women taking a plunge, reminiscent of a drama-filled episode from The Real Housewives series.

It’s hard to imagine that Claude Monet would approve, given how immature Cami and Emily’s actions seem, and how they appear to trivialize both themselves and the entire Impressionist movement by their disregard for this iconic French landmark. Their antics bear a striking resemblance to the notorious flight incident involving Monica and Rachel from Friends, if only rowboats and a hallowed garden were added to the mix. The most awkward aspect of this entire scenario is the presumption that Netflix likely spent a huge sum to produce such an unflattering portrayal.

After four seasons, the uncertainty between Gabriel and Emily has become nearly intolerable, like a chronic itch.
