Nate Bargatze Returns to Netflix With Two-Special Deal

As a gamer with a keen interest in comedy, I can confidently say that Nate Bargatze‘s rise to the top of the comedy world is nothing short of impressive! From his multiple successful specials on Netflix, hosting Saturday Night Live, and breaking arena records, it seems like this guy can do no wrong.

Nate Bargatze is bringing his comedy back to Netflix.

The popular streaming platform officially revealed that they have struck a two-special agreement with the globe’s highest-earning comedian, whose previous special created a significant impact on Amazon Prime Video. This announcement arrives as Bargatze remains extremely sought-after in the entertainment industry. To be precise, within the last month, he has hosted Saturday Night Live for the second time and unveiled an hour-long variety show themed around holidays, which is being produced by Lorne Michaels from SNL and his Broadway Video.

Nate Bargatze’s first of two upcoming Netflix comedy specials, titled “Your Friend, Nate Bargatze“, will debut on Christmas Eve. This is his third hour-long show for the streaming service, following a brief switch to Amazon Prime Video. The special is known for its family-friendly humor as it tackles topics like wanting another pet dog, deciding how much pizza to order for a guys’ night in, and his wife being the responsible one. Ryan Polito is directing the special, with Bargatze, Alex Murray, Tim Sarkes, and John Irwin serving as executive producers. The production company behind it is John Irwin Entertainment.

In 2019, Nate Bargatze’s first solo special on Netflix, titled The Tennessee Kid,, received excellent reviews. Two years later, he launched another special, The Greatest Average American, which was nominated for a Grammy in the best comedy album category. In 2023, Bargatze switched to Amazon where his special, Nate Bargatze: Hello World, continues to hold the record as Amazon’s most-streamed original comedy special in its first month. Currently on tour with new content, Bargatze broke the attendance record at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville and has already surpassed 20 more arena records this year. As previously reported by THR, Bargatze is now being recognized as a top-tier comedian on Netflix, both financially and in terms of executive Ted Sarandos’ attention.

It’s interesting to mention that Bargatze hasn’t just been confined to standup comedy; in fact, he ventured into broader horizons as early as 2023 when he launched Nateland Entertainment, a company specializing in family-friendly content. This enterprise is slated to produce not only standup specials but also scripted projects spanning films, TV shows, podcasts, and music. His rise to fame may be recent, but his attempts to extend his clean comedy brand into various domains are nothing new. About a decade ago, he collaborated with Jimmy Fallon to develop his act into an NBC sitcom, although the network declined the project. Despite this setback, Bargatze and Fallon have maintained their bond, with Bargatze making a total of 13 appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, more than any other comedian.
