BBC, ZDF and France Television Greenlight ‘Lady Grace Mysteries’ Live-Action Series

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for historical mysteries and captivating narratives, I find myself quite intrigued by the forthcoming live-action series, “The Lady Grace Mysteries”. Having traversed the treacherous waters of virtual kingdoms, I can only imagine the thrill of navigating the real-life politics of Queen Elizabeth I’s court.

Collaboratively producing “The Lady Grace Mysteries,” a fresh, live-action TV series for tweens, BBC, along with German and French public broadcasters ZDF and France Television, are drawing inspiration from the highly successful book series.

The Lady Grace Mysteries series follows the tale of Lady Grace Cavendish, an orphan who was brought up as a lady-in-waiting at Queen Elizabeth I’s royal court. Unbeknownst to many, she transforms into the world’s first teenage female detective. Serving as a covert operative for the Queen, Lady Grace unravels mysteries amid the dangerous intrigues of courtly politics. Initially released in 2004, there are currently 12 books in the series, available in various international editions and selling over 300,000 copies globally.

In partnership with Coolabi Productions and ZDF Studios, Cottonwood Media – a division of the French media group Federation Studios – will jointly produce the series titled “The Lady Grace Mysteries“. Filming for this show is scheduled to commence in the Spring season of 2025 at an undisclosed British castle.

As a passionate gamer, I can’t help but share my excitement about being the lead writer on a captivating series like “A Kind of Spark.” This amazing kids’ show, which I created, was adapted from Elle McNicoll’s novel and has recently swept the Royal Television Society and Broadcast awards for the best children’s program of the year. The second season of this extraordinary journey launched in April. It’s a true honor to be part of such a remarkable project!

Manon Ardisson, who heads the fiction department at Cottonwood Media, and Alexander Jacob, the company’s managing director, will supervise the production process.

ZDF Studios, along with the French group Federation Kids & Family, will manage global distribution. They’ll begin presale discussions during the Mipcom international TV market in Cannes towards the end of this month.

ZDF and Federation have achieved significant international sales with popular Cottonwood tween shows like “Enchanted” (Spellbound) and “Where’s Paris?” (Find Me in Paris).
