‘Kaos’ Creator Reacts to Netflix Canceling Show: “I’m Gutted Not to Be Making More”

As a fan who has eagerly devoured every episode of Kaos, I am deeply saddened by the news of its cancellation. The show was a refreshing take on Greek mythology, blending humor, drama, and a touch of the bizarre that kept me hooked from start to finish. Charlie Covell’s creative vision was brilliantly brought to life by an exceptionally talented cast and crew.

Charlie Covell, the mastermind behind “Kaos,” has expressed his thoughts after Netflix decided not to renew the Greek mythology comedy for a second season.

Covell, who identifies using they/them pronouns, expressed a heartfelt message on Sister’s Instagram page regarding their disappointment about not creating more episodes of Kaos: “I may be upset that we won’t produce more of the series, but I don’t want this news to eclipse the amazing work we accomplished. It was an absolute honor to collaborate with such a gifted cast and crew, and our show is something I take immense pride in. A big thank you goes out to everyone involved: it was a true team effort, and I consider myself fortunate to have worked alongside all of you.

In this contemporary adaptation, the story echoes the myths from ancient Greece and Rome. The lead role of Zeus was played by Jeff Goldblum, who imposed a punishment on Prometheus, portrayed by Stephen Dillane, by chaining him to a cliff for meddling with Zeus’ rule. In an attempt to overthrow Zeus, Prometheus enlists the aid of three humans: Eurydice (Aurora Perrineau), Ariadne (Leila Farzad) and Caeneus (Misia Butler).

In their message, Covell also praised the show’s fans for their continued “love and enthusiasm.”

They mentioned some Reddit communities that brought a smile to their face, as the small touches and hidden gems caught their attention numerous times. They were filled with joy beyond words due to the encouraging feedback on the show, expressing their gratitude.

The author additionally pointed out that a theory concerning the identity of Kaos, which they encountered on Reddit, was “spot-on accurate.

Covell expressed, “I’m hoping that folks will continue to uncover and appreciate the show: I suspect there are still some viewers out there who may require more time to discover it, so please keep discussing Kaos if you enjoyed it. Thank you immensely for tuning in!
