Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh ‘deserve where they are’ says Rajkummar Rao; ‘I don't see stardom as a metric but I can't also deny….’

As a seasoned observer and connoisseur of the Indian film industry, I must say that Rajkummar Rao’s humility and respect for his peers is truly commendable. His ability to acknowledge the success and stardom of his contemporaries like Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh speaks volumes about his character.

Rajkummar Rao, known for his exceptional acting skills, is currently reveling in the triumph of his movie Stree 2, which broke numerous box office records. In a recent chat, when asked about his peers Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh and their standing as leading stars, Rao admitted that they are indeed bigger stars and rightfully so. He further stated that he doesn’t measure success by stardom, but also acknowledged that it does indeed exist.

During an interview on Samdish’s Unfiltered show, Rajkummar highly commended both Ranbir and Ranveer, labeling them as “outstanding performers.” When inquired about actors who frequently garner attention due to their family ties or other factors, Rajkummar conceded that they are indeed more prominent figures, particularly emphasizing Ranbir.

Later on, he was asked why he called them “stars” when he doesn’t consider fame as an indicator of success. To this, Rajkummar explained that even though he doesn’t use stardom as a gauge, he can’t ignore its presence.

It’s logical that if a movie like “Animal” brings in around 500-600 crores, and his upcoming film, “Ramayana” with Nitesh Tiwari, is expected to surpass this success, then it’s reasonable to expect so.

Apart from his role as the Shahid actor, he additionally voiced admiration towards them as fellow performers. He emphatically stated that they rightfully hold their present standing, particularly commending Ranveer’s portrayal in “Rocky and Rani’s Love Story.

Rao clarified his perspective on fame, stating that it might be characterized by the degree to which a project relies on a star’s involvement, for instance, being the main actor in a 20-billion-rupee film. Yet, he emphasized that chasing such levels of stardom doesn’t appeal to him at this point in his career.

Speaking to PTI, Rao shared his delight about the favorable reception and triumph of Stree 2. He pointed out that the substantial viewership figures signified the large audience who watched the movie. Moreover, he was touched by an influx of affection shown through messages, phone calls, and social media platforms.

Rao learned that numerous people considered the movie’s triumph as a personal accomplishment that stirred deep emotions within him, making him feel emotionally exposed. Some went as far as saying they identified with his journey and regarded his success as their own, providing them with inspiration. This outpouring of emotion left Rao feeling overwhelmed.
