What Is The People We Meet On Vacation About?
“The Vacations We Share” introduces Alex (Blyth) and Poppy (Bader), whose contrasting natures make them an unusual duo yet their friendship endures due to their annual trips together since college. However, during one getaway, the dynamics shift dramatically, leading to a bitter rift between them.
Instead, they opt for a final shared journey, an attempt to revive their frayed connection. Yet, this trip turns out to be life-altering for them in ways that none could have foreseen. Indeed, it seems like the ideal script for a heartwarming romantic movie – I’m all in!
Beach Read
For enthusiasts of author Emily Henry, the forthcoming adaptation of “Beach Read” is a significant event. Regrettably, specifics about it have been kept under wraps, leaving no confirmed release date and undecided distribution method at this point in time, suggesting that it may appear in cinemas or on streaming platforms.
On the other hand, it’s clear that Yulin Kuang is set to direct the movie “Beach Read,” as reported by Deadline.
As of now, there hasn’t been any official announcement about the cast, but various speculations are circulating – with Ayo Edebiri and Paul Mescal being among them. However, none of these rumors have been verified regarding who will take on the main roles. What we do know for certain is that a director has been confirmed for the project.
What Is Beach Read About?
In “Beach Read,” we follow two authors specializing in distinct literary genres. As fate would have it, they spend their summer in close proximity, both residing in a picturesque lakeside neighborhood. Desperate for a fresh perspective and eager to escape their creative blocks, they embark on an intriguing experiment – exchanging genres to determine who can craft the superior tale. This unusual endeavor sets the stage for an enchanting romantic journey.
Funny Story
Funny Story is one of Henry’s latest novels, released in April 2024. Not long after, Deadline confirmed that the novel was being adapted into a feature film by Lyrical Media and Ryder Picture Company.
As for now, there’s no set release date, cast, or director announced yet, but interestingly enough, Henry herself will pen the script, as mentioned in the article above – a departure from the usual approach seen in most adaptations.
What Is Funny Story About?
In the adaptation of “Funny Story,” we’ll stick closely to the narrative of the original novel. The story revolves around a young woman named Daphne, who recently broke up with her boyfriend Peter. He left her for his long-time friend Petra. Struggling to find a new place to live, Daphne winds up in the home of Miles, who used to date Petra. They hatch a plan to make their exes jealous and win them back, but as you might guess, things don’t turn out as they anticipated.
Yup, that sounds like the perfect rom-com set-up, and I’m here for it.
Book Lovers
Among all the adaptations mentioned, the film adaptation of “Book Lovers” appears to have undergone the fewest changes, but it’s anticipated that it will eventually come to fruition, according to current knowledge. It was confirmed in March 2023 by Deadline that Henry’s novel, specifically “Book Lovers,” would be transformed into a motion picture.
As of now, no fixed release date, distribution channel, director, or actors have been confirmed for this movie yet. However, it is known that Sarah Heyward will pen the script.
What Is Book Lovers About?
“Book Lovers” revolves around Nora Stephens, a dedicated literary agent residing in the city, who’s persuaded by her sister for a break in a serene North Carolina town. During her stay, she encounters Charlie, a fellow work colleague and editor. Their paths intersect with a palpable tension reminiscent of a knife cut – however, as time passes, they uncover aspects of each other that were previously hidden, transforming their old enmity into a passionate lovers’ tale.
Happy Place
Lastly, let’s discuss the topic of “Happy Place”. It was confirmed in June 2024 that Netflix acquired the rights to turn Emily Henry’s novel “Happy Place” into a series. This project will be overseen by Jennifer Lopez’s production company, Nuyorican.
Later in August 2024, Deadline announced that the showrunner for Happy Place had been discovered – Leila Cohan, a producer known for her work on the highly popular Netflix series Bridgerton.
Although there’s no confirmed release date or cast yet, having a showrunner indicates that “Happy Place” is progressing smoothly.
What Is Happy Place About?
“Happy Place” revolves around Harriet and Wyn, a pair who parted ways five months back yet kept their split hidden from their friends. But when circumstances compel them to share a room during their annual friend gathering, they find themselves in a predicament where they can’t help but deceive others about their relationship status. As they continue this charade, they start to question if the embers of their connection are still smoldering, despite everything they have experienced together.
Indeed, Emily Henry’s upcoming adaptations and novels promise a wealth of excitement for me in the coming years, potentially filling 2025 and beyond with countless romantic comedies. I’m preparing to stock up on tissues!

Beyond the exciting adaptations in the works, Emily Henry also has a new book coming out!
So, the only thing we know for sure has a release timeframe is Emily Henry’s next novel. It will be called A Great Big Beautiful Life, which was confirmed by her publishing house, Berkley Pub, in September 2024 on Instagram, as embedded above. So far, the new novel is set to be released in Spring 2025.
In an interview with The Today Show in April 2024, Henry hinted at the plot of the upcoming novel, describing it as a love story, but with a twist – a departure from what typical readers of the author might expect. Yet, she assured fans that it would remain engaging and enjoyable. Additionally, she mentioned that writing this first draft was one of the most satisfying experiences the author has had in recent years.
It was the best first draft experience I’ve had since Beach Read, where writing the first draft, I felt so connected to the characters, and I was getting really emotional for them. And usually, I don’t really find that until later drafts.
Spring 2025 can’t come soon enough.
