CBS Sets ‘Watson’ Drama for Post-AFC Championship Game Leadout

As a devoted fan of Sherlock Holmes, who has spent countless hours immersed in the intricate world of Arthur Conan Doyle’s mysteries, I am beyond excited about the upcoming CBS series, Watson! The prospect of Dr. John Watson resuming his medical career after the heart-wrenching demise of his partner, Sherlock Holmes, is both poignant and intriguing.

On January 26, 2025, the medical drama titled ‘Watson,’ set in the universe of Sherlock Holmes and featuring Morris Chestnut as Dr. John Watson, has been planned to air following the AFC Championship game by CBS.

Before the show “Watson” starts airing regularly from February 16, it will first present a special episode where Sherlock Holmes, the late partner of Watson, takes on the leadout role in a medical mystery drama produced by CBS Studios. The series also features Eve Harlow, Peter Mark Kendall, Ritchie Coster, Inga Schlingmann, and Rochelle Aytes.

On January 26, 2025, Watson will make its debut on Paramount+. The exact starting time will depend on the conclusion of post-game coverage. The series revolves around Dr. Watson restarting his medical career as the head of a clinic specializing in treating unusual conditions, following the demise of Holmes.

The CBS drama is influenced by the characters from Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories. In this updated adaptation, Moriarty (the one who caused Holmes’ demise) will play a significant role. According to the TV network, the series presents a contemporary take on one of history’s most renowned detectives. Instead of focusing on crime-solving, this detective turns his expertise towards unraveling complex medical enigmas.

Craig Sweeny, the head of Elementary, penned the initial episode and is in charge as well as serving as an executive producer. Additionally, Chestnut, Sallie Patrick, Larry Teng, Sharon Moalem, Aaron Kaplan, and Brian Morewitz all take on roles as executive producers too.

Sweeney’s Elementary spanned over seven seasons and approximately 150 episodes, featuring Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock Holmes, Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan Watson, and Natalie Dormer as Jamie Moriarty. Just like Watson, the series was manufactured within the premises of CBS Studios.

The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
