Hades 2 – How to Unlock The Black Coat Weapon

Hades 2 - How to Unlock The Black Coat Weapon

As a seasoned Hades II player who has traversed the Underworld and the Surface countless times, I can confidently say that the latest update introducing Mount Olympus and the Black Coat is a game-changer! The new weapon, Xinth, The Black Coat, may initially seem like a pair of fists, but it’s far from ordinary – think Iron Man meets Mega Man!

Part of today’s beefy Hades II update is not just the new area of Mount Olympus, it also includes a handful of tools for Melinoe to use in her fight against Chronos. Among them is the final Nocturnal Arms: Xinth, The Black Coat.

At a glance, this unusual-looking gadget might resemble a pair of boxing gloves, but it’s not. In reality, it is an advanced power armor suit similar to Iron Man’s. Here’s how to access Hades 2’s latest weapon prior to engaging the new surface threats:

Gather Adamant

To wield this enigmatic new weapon, it’s crucial that you collect the appropriate resources first. Just like the weapons in Hades II, they need specific materials scattered throughout the Underworld and the Surface world. For instance, the Sister Blades call for a silver piece, the Moonstone Axe demands fifteen, and Xinth, the Black Coat, requires not one but two pieces of Cinder and Adamant.

Cinder is a pretty easy resource if you’ve been playing the same game since launch. It is obtained in the Underworld as a reward for beating Melinoe’s mentor in Erebus, Hecate.

Despite being challenging, adamant can only be acquired from Mount Olympus’ surface. Navigating through this process involves overcoming two powerful adversaries located in Ephyra and Thessaly.

Prior to descending to the surface, don’t forget to arm yourself with the Crescent Pickaxe. Since it resembles a typical rock in Olympus, you can mine it effortlessly once you arrive. Achieving two Adamants during a single journey is possible. However, remember that reaching Olympus is crucial.

Using the Black Coat

The Black Coat is a weird weapon but Hades is no stranger to its arsenal of oddities. We’ve had a Skull as a Gun, and a pair of Torches, so a rocket-powered suit is no surprise for Hades players.

The Black Cloak boasts both close-combat and long-range assault capabilities, making it a versatile choice for combat situations where other weapons might seem underpowered.

Her Omega Attack creates a shield in front, useful for deflecting assaults. Additionally, it can unleash a potent burst, similar to the Quen ability in The Witcher 3.

As a gamer, I’ve got to say, this bad boy’s got a unique move that lets it fire six scattershot missiles at my foes without a second thought. When I power it up with the Omega Special, it transforms into a short-range conical blast that automatically locks onto six targets within its vicinity. To put it simply, the Black Coat’s mastery of both close combat and long-range attacks turns Melinoe into an awesome fusion of Iron Man and Mega Man in my gaming world!

Black Coat’s Aspects

Beyond its standard feature, the Black Coat boasts two potent variations that could prove beneficial when the situation calls for it.

The two Characteristics uniquely distinguish themselves, boosting the Fighting and Ranging skills of the Costume. Selene’s Feature bestows upon Melinoe a fresh Charm titled Sky Drop, allowing her to fire moon beams at random adversaries. This spell is particularly effective in cramped spaces and against challenging bosses.

In combat, Nyx’s Role leans towards Close-Quarter Fighting, enabling Melinoe to accelerate her rush and crash into adversaries, dealing substantial harm. Additionally, it boosts her standard attacks and special abilities for a brief period of time.

In terms of playstyle, both Selene’s and Nyx’s abilities will come into play depending on the situation. If you prefer a more distant approach, Selene’s characteristics could be beneficial. On the other hand, for close-quarters combat, Nyx’s collision powers are ideal. However, if neither of these aspects align with your preferred strategy, Melinoe’s default setting, which makes all her moves faster, is always an option.

In the game Hades II, the Black Coat is one of the half-dozen formidable Nocturnal Arms. The latest update for the Olympics has provided us with ample opportunity to tinker with this fresh, lethal weapon. Here’s hoping it proves useful when we face challenges on the Surface.
