Kamala Harris Campaign Targets Taylor Swift Concertgoers in Snapchat Push

As a seasoned gamer with a knack for politics and a deep appreciation for pop culture, I find myself utterly intrigued by the Kamala Harris campaign’s strategy to engage young voters through Taylor Swift’s fanbase. Being a lifelong Swiftie myself, I can’t help but feel a sense of camaraderie with this campaign – after all, we both understand the power and influence that Taylor holds over her fans (or “Swifties,” if you will).

The Kamala Harris campaign is continuing to evoke Taylor Swift as Election Day approaches.

During their visit to Miami for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour performances at Hard Rock Stadium, young fans (Swifties) will encounter the Democratic National Convention’s “I Will Vote” campaign, which is tailored around Taylor Swift.

On Friday, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) plans to release a special Snapchat filter in battleground states aimed at younger voters. This filter encourages individuals to be bold when considering key election topics such as reproductive freedom and economic prosperity.

The Snapchat filter showcases a heading “In My Voting Era,” inviting users to select from various options to complete the sentence, “Be fearless for…” Some available choices are democracy, reproductive rights, climate action, student loan debt relief, health care, racial justice, LGBTQ+ rights, economic opportunity and equality. By tapping on these options, users express their support and courage for these important issues. At the bottom of the screen, the filter provides a link to IWillVote.com, encouraging users to take further action towards voting.

In addition to fresh billboards popping up around Miami inviting voters to usher in their “Kamala Era”, there’s also a mobile billboard for IWillVote.com running on a boat near Taylor Swift’s concert venue. Furthermore, Snapchat filters will be accessible to users in key election states.

Rosemary Boeglin, DNC Communications Director, stated that Democrats are connecting with young voters in places they frequent, such as concert venues and social media sites, to provide them with the necessary tools to vote. She emphasized that no vote will be overlooked, and they’ll keep informing young voters nationwide about what’s at stake. Boeglin added that America’s youth is motivated to voice their opinions now for a future they aspire towards.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excited to share that I’ll be among the first to experience the second leg of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, right in the heart of Miami! Last month, with her Grammy-winning prowess behind her, Taylor gave her endorsement to Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz. This came shortly after their debate against Donald Trump, which was the only one they had.

I’m casting my vote for @kamalaharris as she stands strong for the principles I think deserve a fierce advocate. Taylor Swift expressed admiration for her choice of vice presidential candidate @timwalz, who has been a longtime supporter and activist for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and women’s autonomy over their own bodies.

Swift identified herself as a “cat-loving woman without children,” subtly referring to comments made by Trump’s running mate J.D. Vance earlier in the year. This post resonated with her 283 million followers, resulting in a surge of 337,826 visits to voter registration websites overnight.

A day following Swift’s major endorsement, the Harris campaign swiftly organized and displayed eye-catching digital billboards in New York’s Times Square and on the Las Vegas Strip, promoting messages like “We’re in Our Kamala Era!” and “A New Way Forward… Are You Ready for It?” – a nod to Swift’s song from her ‘Reputation’ album. Simultaneously, the Harris campaign website has been offering friendship bracelets featuring Harris and Walz, priced at $20 each, with each sale contributing to the Harris Victory Fund.
