Case against Remo D'Souza and his wife Lizelle filed for cheating dance troupe of Rs 11.96 crore: Here's what happened

As a lifestyle expert with extensive experience in the entertainment industry, I have always admired Remo D’Souza for his incredible talent and contributions to Indian dance and film. However, recent news about legal troubles involving him and his wife Lizelle has left me quite surprised. It’s disheartening to see someone of such stature facing accusations that could potentially tarnish their reputation.

Remo D’Souza is a well-known Indian choreographer who has been in the industry for many years. He isn’t just a choreographer, though; he’s also directed and produced numerous films, and even appeared in some himself. Despite managing both his career and personal life, Remo found himself in legal issues when he was implicated in a fraud case. It was reported that a complaint was filed against Remo and his wife Lizelle D’Souza, accusing them of defrauding a dance group out of approximately 11.96 crore rupees.

According to a report from news agency PTI, choreographer Remo D’Souza and his wife Lizelle D’Souza have found themselves in legal issues. A dancer aged 26 filed a complaint against them, but they are not the only individuals implicated in this case. In addition to them, others have been accused of fraudulent activities. On Saturday, the police reported that a case has been filed against everyone involved, including the D’Souzas, for allegedly defrauding a dance group out of approximately 11.96 crore rupees in the Thane district of Maharashtra.

According to a statement from PTI, a police report was filed at the Mira Road station on October 16 against Remo, his wife Lizelle, and five others. This report was allegedly due to charges of forgery (section 465) and cheating (section 420), as well as other relevant Indian Penal Code provisions. The complainant alleged that between 2018 and July 2024, the 26-year-old dancer and his troupe were deceived in a scheme where they claimed prizes worth approximately Rs 11.96 crore for a reality TV show win, when in fact the accused misrepresented that the group was theirs.

In addition to Omprakash Shankar Chouhan, Rohit Jadhav, Frame Production Company, Vinod Raut (who is a police officer), and Ramesh Gupta, other individuals have been implicated in this case. At present, an investigation into these allegations is ongoing.

As a devoted devotee, I’d like to share that my TV debut was on the dance reality show Dance India Dance (DID), where I worked alongside Terence Lewis and Geeta Kapoor. I’ve had the pleasure of choreographing for almost 100 movies, and soon, my directorial film, “Be Happy,” will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Videos. This movie features an impressive cast including Abhishek Bachchan, Innayat Verma, Nora Fatehi, Nassar, Johny Lever, and Harleen Sethi.
