As a die-hard Lord of the Rings fan with a heart full of Middle Earth memories, I can barely contain my excitement over the upcoming cinematic adventures! The announcement of “The Hunt For Gollum” was already music to my ears, but hearing about a second film in the works has sent me soaring on Elven wings!
Back in the start of this year, it was made known that a new movie titled “The Hunt For Gollum” within the universe of “Lord of the Rings” was scheduled for release in 2026. Notably, screenwriter Philippa Boyens shared with “Empire” that a second film in this series is currently being produced as well.
Boyens clarified to the press that unlike some whispers in the industry, “The Hunt for Gollum” will not be divided into two separate films.
Boyens clarified to Empire that it’s not about two movies. It was a genuine confusion caused by our initial conceptual work on two distinct live-action films, one of which is ‘The Hunt For Gollum,’ and the other one is yet to be officially announced.
As a gamer, I’m thrilled to be part of the team producing the upcoming animated series, “The War Of The Rohirrim,” set for release in December. If this one takes off, it might just pave the way for more anime in the world of LoR (League of Legends).
Boyens shared with Empire that we’ve got a fantastic sequel movie, and it could be truly spectacular as an anime adaptation. However, we’ll have to gauge the interest first.
