As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for success stories and a deep appreciation for resilience, I must say that Shah Rukh Khan continues to impress me time and again. His life experience is not just a testament to his box office success but also a reflection of his unwavering professionalism and willpower.
Shah Rukh Khan’s extraordinary career in Bollywood isn’t just based on his blockbuster films, but also his humble work ethic and dedication. Recently, director Rahul Dholakia shared a story from the set of their movie “Raees”. Despite having a knee issue during filming, SRK persevered, demonstrating his professionalism and determination by completing additional scenes.
In an open chat with Mashable India, the director reminisced about their collaboration on the film Raees. Dholakia recounted a moment from the set of Raees when Shah Rukh Khan was struggling with a knee issue. His knees would become swollen and we had to address it urgently. Shah Rukh had a severe knee problem that caused him great pain. The director expressed concern, “How will you manage this?” but Shah Rukh reassured him, saying “Worry not, I’ll handle it” and he did so with remarkable grace when landing his foot.
Since the movie was full of action sequences, numerous takes were required. However, Rahul requested the action director not to demand additional retakes, as they might cause discomfort to the star again. Nevertheless, Khan overheard this and alleviated the producers’ tension by stating that he could deliver an even better performance.
Rahul Dholakia acknowledged that Shah Rukh Khan had a chance to skip the filming schedule, but he chose to complete the rest of it instead. This demonstrated his remarkable strength and commitment.
In a later statement, the director commended Shah Rukh Khan for his warmth and support towards others. To put it simply, the director said that SRK makes you feel at ease, lacks insecurity as both an actor and individual, and is genuinely encouraging, always standing by your side.
As for the subject at hand, Rahul shared that he prefers not to include songs in his films, and Raees’s plot didn’t necessitate one. However, upon learning this, King Khan and the producer suggested otherwise. Looking back, the director explained, “They told me, ‘Your film won’t survive a day.’ I replied, ‘Why is that? What connection are songs to films?’ They responded, ‘You are new to this commercial movie environment.’
2017 saw the premiere of Raaes, during which viewers got a glimpse of Shah Rukh Khan portraying a bootlegging king from the 80s in an unconventional manner. Notable performances were delivered by Mahira Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, but unfortunately, the film underperformed at the box office.
