In fact, he shared with Team JVS that he’s “extremely eager” to revisit the brutal setting of the young assassin codenamed 13 and the mysterious Shadow organization.
We discover so little about the identities of these Shadows and the history behind their organization. Questions such as what motivates them remain unanswered, hinted at only in the ending of the first movie. I’m eager to explore these mysteries further in a sequel, hoping that there is enough audience interest to make it happen.
The first outing certainly lays the foundations for more, with Tjahjanto having since revealed to a fan on X/Twitter that he has plans for a wider franchise beyond just a follow-up.

In addition to “The Shadow Strays 2,” Tjahjanto has plans for another action movie sequel, specifically a follow-up to his highly praised “The Night Comes for Us.” When asked about the possibility of directing this sequel, he replied that once he has directed enough studio films, he could work on a self-determined project at Netflix. Currently, Tjahjanto is indeed working on such a project and is now directing the upcoming sequel to the Bob Odenkirk-led “Nobody,” which recently completed filming.
