Josh Brolin & Peter Dinklage's Brothers is Amazon Prime's Top Streaming Movie

As a long-time fan of Marvel movies and a connoisseur of action comedies, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the release of “Brothers” on Prime Video. Having followed the careers of stars like James Brolin, Peter Dinklage, and Glenn Close, I was excited to see them team up for this road trip adventure. However, after reading the mixed reviews, I must admit my anticipation has dwindled a bit.

I’ve just discovered that Prime Video’s latest action-comedy offering, “The Boys in the Boat,” has taken the number one spot on their charts. Featuring Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., and the legendary Glenn Close, this movie marks a unique collaboration of these former Marvel stars on screen together for the first time. However, it seems that while the star power is undeniable, the film hasn’t quite managed to garner the praise from both critics and viewers that one might expect from such a stellar cast.

Just as numerous fresh streaming productions, the movie “Brothers” has swiftly climbed to the peak of Amazon Prime Video’s movie rankings, pushing aside crime drama “Killer Heat” and the popular Zendaya-led series “Challengers”. This film is a road trip story that follows Moke Munger (played by Brolin), a reformed criminal on the straight-and-narrow, and his brother Jady (Dinklage) who’s always up to no good. Their goal? To secure the biggest heist of their lives. But as you might expect, things don’t go smoothly, and mayhem erupts as they try to dodge arrest, gunfire, and the wrath of their domineering mother (Close). Despite the promise of a thrilling ride, reviews have been quite varied, with some criticizing Amazon for investing in a film that some claim lacks direction from its writers and directors.

The modest ensemble of “Brothers” includes Brendan Fraser, Marisa Tomei, Taylour Paige, and M. Emmet Walsh. The movie initially premiered in select cinemas on October 10, followed by its release on Prime Video on October 17. Despite some harsh criticism from critics, the concept for “Brothers” was originally devised by Etan Cohen, who is known for writing movies like “Tropic Thunder” and “The Bad Guys”. The script was written by Macron Blair, whose recent work on an upcoming Peter Dinklage film, “The Toxic Avenger”, has received positive reviews. However, despite these promising elements, the movie’s performance hasn’t been as successful as expected.

Is Brothers Worth Watching on Prime Video?

It seems that people’s opinions about the movie “Brothers” are quite varied. In fact, based on the feedback received, one might find just as many people who adore it as those who dislike it, given the wide range of responses the film has elicited.

Despite the Rotten Tomatoes ratings for the movie “Brothers” being uncertain at present, it’s clear that this film is one of those rare instances where both critics and audiences concur – it’s a real mixed bag. As I write this, the Tomatometer score stands at 40%, while Popcornmeter gives it a slightly better rating of 48%. Critics have generally commended the cast for making the best out of their roles, but there seems to be a general consensus that the material is the main source of contention among viewers.

Despite facing some negative criticism at the moment, the movie has been drawing in audiences curious about its take on the classic film “Twins” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito. This could mean that “Brothers,” with its unusual twin duo played by Brolin and Dinklage, might be remembered fondly as a future classic.
