Pal Go is a new tower-defence game that bears absolutely no resemblance to anything else, really

  • Pal go: Tower Defence is a new game that resembles nothing out there
  • Certainly not a surprisingly-successful creature-collecting game
  • It’s out now on iOS and Android

As a seasoned gamer who’s seen it all, from pixelated pioneers to state-of-the-art virtual reality adventures, I must say that Pal Go: Tower Defence is an intriguing addition to the mobile gaming scene. While it seems to share more than just a passing resemblance to a certain creature-collecting game, let’s not forget that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

In terms of games, every now and then, there’s one that completely revolutionizes the genre, leaving nothing else in its wake. However, Pal Go: Tower Defense is not one of those revolutionary titles. Instead, it’s a well-constructed tower defense game that happens to share a striking resemblance, by chance, to a popular, adorable mascot-based game.

With humor aside, I believe it’s quite clear where Pagoo draws much of its influence, considering the name and the resemblance of certain creatures to familiar ones. It would be a touch ironic to criticize them for borrowing ideas from Palworld, given that even it liberally takes cues from its predecessor, Pokémon.

Still, I do have to give kudos to the fact they did actually use another genre rather than simply copying Palworld blow for blow. Whether or not it manages to stand out as a tower defence game or simply a curiosity because of the name, I reckon, will rely on how well it actually does.

I’m not your buddy, Pal

It’s worth questioning just how far along Pal Go was during its naming, considering the concept of blending to mimic Pokémon’s evolution system. The game has garnered over 10,000 downloads on Google Play, suggesting that the name is indeed attracting players. However, to truly understand its quality, you need to try it out yourself.
