Does Jerry O’Connell Think Quinn Ever Made it Home on Sliders?

As a die-hard fan who’s been riding the interdimensional waves since Quinn Mallory first flipped that switch back in 1995, I can say without a doubt that the Sliders journey remains one of my all-time favorites. The show’s ability to transport us to diverse worlds, each with their unique quirks and challenges, was nothing short of breathtaking.

Back in the day, when I, as a fanatic like no other, accidentally constructed a dimensional gateway during the very first episode of the iconic SYFY series Sliders (currently available for streaming on Peacock), little did I fathom what lay beyond that mysterious threshold.

For the subsequent five years, Mallory along with her fellow sliders continued to jump between different dimensions, dreaming that the next leap would bring them back to their original world. They encountered realms where Pharaohs still reigned in Egypt, America remained a British colony, dinosaurs roamed freely, and a ruthless race called Kromaggs enslaved mankind. Each of these worlds had its unique charm, and some were so captivating that it was almost irresistible, but none of them were the one they called home.

The final episode concluded with an unresolved mystery: the whereabouts and safety of the Sliders and Earth Prime were purposely left uncertain. Whether or not Mallory returned home remains disputed, but as asserted by the main character, O’Connell, he did not. As for Quinn, the series’ protagonist suggests that he is still venturing through space in search of his way back home.

Jerry O’Connell says Sliders’ Quinn Mallory never got home

2016 saw O’Connell engaged in media interviews promoting the animated film “Justice League VS Teen Titans” (where he lent his voice to Superman), and ComicsOnline strayed from superheroes, curious about what we all pondered – whether Quinn Mallory had returned home.

A moment ago, I received a call from the producer suggesting that I might respond to that question sometime down the line,” O’Connell explained. “It sounds like a great idea! Perhaps we could launch an online campaign or initiative of some sort. Let’s give it a shot.

The discussion occurred at WonderCon 2016, and since then, multiple petitions and initiatives have been launched. However, a revival of Sliders still seems out of reach. Fortunately, O’Connell was later asked to make a commitment, just in case the narrative doesn’t progress further.

“Let me be clear, I didn’t catch the last season because my character had taken an unexpected turn and was played by someone else. So, I don’t have any insights about it. But who knows? Maybe our story isn’t over yet.

What happened to Quinn Mallory in Sliders?

Absolutely, viewers of the show who caught the final season are aware that Quinn and the entire Sliders group encounter a rather intricate predicament in their storyline. The last episode sees our heroes, except for Rembrandt (played by Cleavant Derricks), ending up on a planet inhabited by admirers (not the most dreadful scenario), while Rembrandt returns home with a biological weapon to combat the Kromaggs.

At this stage in the narrative, the character we recognized as Quinn Mallory underwent a significant change. In the beginning of Season 5, he merged with a non-identical twin, allowing the writers to continue the series in O’Connell’s absence. The new personality and appearance took precedence, relegating Quinn to a psychic backdrop, but he remains within.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but point out an interesting detail: though Quinn did make it back to a familiar world, it was just for a short while, unbeknownst to him. In the midst of our Sliders’ adventures, they barely have time to take in their new surroundings before the portal whisks them away again. With each journey, the gate’s squeakiness, a constant since Quinn was a child, fails to sound, leading him to conclude that this isn’t Earth Prime. Little did he know, the hinges had been silently oiled without his knowledge.

Will Sliders ever return?

According to O’Connell’s proposal, the only definite way to find out is if the Sliders portal opens up once more. It’s possible, as most of the cast have shown interest in reprising their roles, based on previous statements. However, despite this enthusiasm, a revival or continuation of the show has been stuck in some kind of development standstill for over a decade, and the reasons remain unclear.

Should the series “Sliders” return in the future, it’s uncertain whether it will continue from where it ended or begin anew with a new group of interdimensional explorers. Prior to his demise, the show’s creator, Tracy Tormé, suggested that any potential reboot would likely incorporate both established and fresh characters.

As long as nothing concrete is shown on our TVs about where Quinn is, it’s possible that he returned home or he might not have. Everyone can choose their own interpretation of the situation.
