Lately, the actor from Citadel shared a story about how his father contemplated abandoning him on the streets of London when he insisted on watching Kuch Kuch Hota Hai instead of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.
In a recent chat with The Indian Express, Varun Dhawan reminisced about the time when the debut of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan took place in London. The producers arranged for them a limo adorned with posters featuring Govinda and Amitabh Bachchan’s humorous expressions.
While strolling through the streets of London, the actor from Citadel vividly remembered yearning intensely to see the movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. He clarified that at that time, he was not yet acquainted with Karan Johar.
In simpler terms, the actor said, “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai seemed more appealing to me, but my father threatened to abandon me when I defended the children here. I told him such behavior wasn’t acceptable, and he retorted that I was unruly, wondering why he brought me here. Later, I acknowledged that the first film, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, had a bigger start due to its ‘mass appeal’, but Kuch Kuch Hota Hai grew massive. I also mentioned that Karan Johar ultimately launched my career.
In a notable turn of events, Varun Dhawan first appeared on screen in the 2012 film “Student Of The Year,” sharing the limelight with Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra. Interestingly, the films KKHH and BMCM clashed at the box office when they were both released on the same date back in 1998.
Regarding his professional endeavors, Varun is set to appear in two upcoming action films: “Citadel: Honey Bunny” directed by Raj & DK, co-starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu, which will be released on November 7, 2024. Additionally, he has another action film titled “Baby John,” produced by Kalees, that is currently in development.
Discussing his future plans, Varun shared that he’s keen on collaborating with Baby John for both commercial and action films infused with spice. Additionally, after seeing The Family Man, he expressed a strong wish to team up with its talented director duo as they all appeared incredibly cool.
He mentioned that both the titles, “Baby John” and “Honey Bunny,” are heartwarming and happen at a moment when he’s a father to a little girl. It was just a coincidence, but he wonders if the universe is working together to make this experience even more unique and memorable.
