Venom The Last Dance Review: Tom Hardy's superhero flick is at best a fan-pleaser and nothing more

Plot:

As a longtime fan of the Venom series, I must say that my love for this anti-hero is as deep and unyielding as the bond between Eddie Brock and his symbiotic partner. Having watched every Venom movie multiple times, I can confidently say that each one has its own unique charm, but also its own set of flaws.

In their hideout, Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) and his symbiote companion, Venom (Juno Temple), find themselves falsely accused of a police officer’s murder. After spending some time in hiding, they think that traveling to New York City will help clear their names. However, they quickly discover that not only the top officials are after them but also an adversary from their past: Knull (Andy Serkis), the creator of symbiotes, sends a fearsome creature to pursue and capture Eddie and Venom.

Will Eddie and Venom manage to withstand the monster assault? Additionally, we’ll see if they can alert the higher-ups about the situation or if they end up being pursued instead. To discover the answers, watch Venom: The Last Dance.

What works for Venom: The Last Dance

As a die-hard Venom fan, I must say that what truly shines in Venom: The Last Dance, just like every other Venom movie, is the bond between Eddie and his symbiote pal, Venom. The part where Venom transforms into a horse had me rolling with laughter and pure enjoyment. The visual effects are top-notch, and the action scenes are thrilling, albeit there’s a tad too much towards the finale. The heartwarming ending, where Eddie reminisces about their joyful moments together, was incredibly touching and left me feeling content with the film’s conclusion.

What doesn’t work for Venom: The Last Dance

Venom: The Last Dance appears quite predictable and inconsistent. Many elements, such as the plot structure, conflicts, and humor, seem repetitive compared to other comic book movies. The villains fail to create a sense of fear or awe, offering little that’s new. It seems like a rehash of successful formulas from the past; one may expect it to deliver again, but with diminishing returns. Moreover, the action climax is overly prolonged and fails to keep viewers fully engaged throughout.

Performances in Venom: The Last Dance

Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock is fun. He holds the film together along with Juno Temple as Venom. The supporting actors like Peggy Lu, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Rhys Ifans among others don’t have much to work with, here. They do their job, modestly.

Final Verdict of Venom: The Last Dance

Experience the predictable, action-packed adventure of Venom: The Last Dance, a superhero movie that aims to satisfy its audience with all the elements they’ve loved from previous Venom installments. It’s a bit of a mixed bag this time.
