Porsche Unveils Weissach-Developed Formula E 99X Electric

As a seasoned racing enthusiast with a soft spot for Porsche and a keen eye for innovative technology, I can hardly contain my excitement over the unveiling of the 99X Electric! With its sleek design reminiscent of the Taycan Turbo GT road car, it’s clear that Porsche has brought their A-game to the electric racing scene.

Porsche has revealed its new competitor for Formula E competition, called the 99X Electric, which will race over the next two seasons during the GEN3 Evo era. The 99X Electric showcases Porsche’s ongoing advancements in electric racing technology, featuring significant upgrades aimed at improving performance and energy efficiency.

Noteworthy advancements include the car’s novel activation of front-wheel drive during qualifying races, starts, and Attack Mode – a function that momentarily provides it with all-wheel drive capabilities. Coupled with high-performance Hankook tires, this feature enables the 99X Electric to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in an astonishing two seconds. The Porsche development team has furthermore optimized the front wing for enhanced stability and streamlined aerodynamics.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that Pascal Wehrlein, our current World Champion, along with António Félix da Costa, who bagged the most wins last season, are back for another electrifying ride! Andretti Formula E has also announced their lineup, which includes former champion Jake Dennis and new Porsche works driver Nico Müller. The stage is set for another adrenaline-fueled competition!

The revamped 99X Electric showcases a bold new design, with captivating Purple Sky Metallic and Shade Green Metallic hues, reminiscent of Porsche’s Taycan Turbo GT road car. Preliminary testing for the 99X Electric will occur from November 4-7 in Valencia, Spain.
