DJ Clark Kent Dead at 58 After Battle With Colon Cancer

As a fan who has grown up with the beats of DJ Clark Kent, I am deeply saddened by his passing. His work has been a soundtrack to my life, and his contributions to hip-hop will forever be etched in the annals of music history.

58-year-old music producer Rodolfo Franklin, better known as DJ Clark Kent, passed away after a three-year struggle against colon cancer. His loved ones confirmed the sad news through a written statement.

We regretfully announce the death of Rodolfo A. Franklin, affectionately known as DJ Clark Kent. He peacefully passed away on Thursday night, with his loving wife Kesha, daughter Kabriah, and son Antonio by his side.

The statement also touched on his private battle with the disease, reading, “Clark quietly and valiantly fought a three-year battle with Colon Cancer, while continuing to share his gifts with the world. The family is grateful for everyone’s love, support and prayers during this time and ask for privacy as they process this immense loss.”

Back in the ’80s, I made my mark in New York’s vibrant club circuit before striking gold with the smash hit “Player’s Anthem,” a collaboration with The Notorious B.I.G. and Junior M.A.F.I.A. Subsequently, I took over as host of the DJ battle segment known as New Music Seminar, which later became my own creation – Clark Kent’s Superman Battle for World Supremacy.

The producer in question was highly praised for his role in Jay Z’s rise to fame, as he produced three tracks on the “Reasonable Doubt” album and introduced Damon Dash to the up-and-coming rapper. Throughout his career, Clark has created music for artists such as Queen Latifah, Kanye West (Ye), Shaquille O’Neal, Ice Cube, Rakim, Mariah Carey, Rick Ross, and many others.

DJ Clark Kent is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
