Sean Combs a.k.a. P. Diddy is currently facing various lawsuits as well as a number of charges for alleged sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution, racketeering and more. Back in September, Combs was arrested in New York and, since then, he’s been incarcerated in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center and is awaiting trial. A number of people – including some celebrities – have weighed in on Diddy’s legal woes during this time. Now, an attorney, who represented Johnny Depp a few years ago, is sharing thoughts.
Benjamin Chew recently featured on an episode of “Piers Morgan Uncensored”, taking part in a group discussion concerning P. Diddy’s ongoing legal predicament. When asked for his opinion by the show’s namesake host, Chew acknowledged the searches conducted at Diddy’s residences and the 2016 CCTV footage depicting the rapper physically abusing his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, in a hotel. Regarding the specific impact of this video on the case, Chew commented:
You mentioned the Cassie video, and I agree it’s just as impactful. It seems this will compel him to testify, and if he wants to sway even a single juror or two, he’ll need to significantly improve upon what was presented in that apology video. Frankly, I’m not optimistic about his prospects.

In May 2024, a hotel video emerged, depicting Combs violently assaulting Ventura. The Grammy winner is seen forcefully throwing her to the ground by her neck, kicking her multiple times, then dragging her and hurling an object at her. After the footage was released, Combs issued an apology through a social media video, but his statement received criticism from Ventura’s legal representative. Following the incident, Alex Fine, Ventura’s husband, publicly condemned anyone who tolerates domestic violence.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve been following the news about P. Diddy, and let me share some insights. A 14-page document made public during his arrest contains allegations against him, not just the ones we previously discussed, but also accusations of bribery and arson. Now, regarding the Sean John founder, Benjamin Chew stresses the importance of Diddy stepping up to testify and genuinely expressing remorse, particularly about that hotel video.
It’s clear that he needs to provide a genuine explanation for that video. He must do so without fail. If he decides not to testify, it could be detrimental. He should take full responsibility, not just use empty words. When he expressed remorse, it seemed insincere. I would like to see more authentic emotions demonstrated. I believe another significant issue is the fact that he has already issued an apology video. … He needs to acknowledge his actions, stating something like, “I did a terrible deed. I will live with regret for the rest of my life, but that doesn’t mean I was involved in sex trafficking.” He needs to look the jury straight in the eye and say this convincingly.
Currently, the sex-trafficking trial for Sean Combs is scheduled to start on May 5, 2025. Until then, it’s uncertain who else might offer opinions on this issue, whether they are lawyers such as Benjamin Chew or not.
