Art The Clown's 10 Most Unspeakable Acts From The Terrifier Movies, Ranked By Extreme Gore

As a die-hard horror enthusiast who’s seen my fair share of gruesome scenes, I must say that the kills in the “Terrifier” franchise truly stand out as some of the most brutal and shocking I’ve ever witnessed. Having grown up on classics like “Halloween,” “Friday the 13th,” and “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” I thought I had a high tolerance for gore, but the kills in these movies have left me utterly speechless.

As a seasoned horror enthusiast, it’s hard for me to imagine a villain who has given me such intense unease as Art the Clown from the Terrifier movies. I can’t foresee any upcoming horror films that might alter this feeling. This isn’t due to my usual lack of fear in creepy clown movies — on the contrary, I wasn’t particularly scared by them before. However, David Howard Thorton’s chilling portrayal of the harlequin has brought some of the most shockingly violent and unremittingly grotesque kill scenes I have ever witnessed in a slasher movie or otherwise.

Pondering if Damien Leone’s latest horror sequel, “Terrifier 3,” truly showcases the most grotesque work yet from its franchise creator, one can’t help but wonder if this upcoming Christmas-themed horror film will top the list of Art the Clown’s most horrific and gruesome acts. Upon a fresh look at these contemporary horror masterpieces, I believe I have compiled an ultimate ranking of the most intense and appalling crimes that Art has perpetrated, in order from least to most severe.

Art The Clown's 10 Most Unspeakable Acts From The Terrifier Movies, Ranked By Extreme Gore

10. Art Turns Steve’s Head Into A Jack-O-Lantern (Terrifier)

Occasionally, merely viewing the aftermath of Art the Clown’s actions can have a similar impact as directly witnessing the violence itself, like the chilling scene of the first murder in the 2016 film Terrifier. Although we don’t see him beheading pizza shop owner Steve (Gino Cafarelli) or etching his gruesome grin onto Steve’s face, the outcome is undeniably disturbing.

9. Art Decapitates Ricky (Terrifier 2)

In “Terrifier 2” from 2022, Art the Clown spares no gore when depicting the brutal demise of a kind-hearted shop employee named Ricky (Johnath Davis). The gruesome sequence begins with Art smashing a glass bottle over Ricky’s head and proceeds to stab the shards into his eye socket, brutally hack through his skull, and ultimately detach his head. Despite his mouth moving and audible grunting, it is evident that Ricky feels every agonizing moment of his gruesome fate.

8. Art Decapitates Will (Terrifier)

In the initial Terrifier film, it’s the grisliest decapitation the franchise has seen so far. The sinister character Art the Clown surprises exterminator Will (Michael Leavy), and in an instant, stabs him through the skull from above, rendering him unconscious. With his free hand, Art proceeds to slice through Will’s neck but pauses momentarily to force his head back, causing a torrent of blood to spill out. Finally, he completes the gruesome act by tearing the rest of Will’s head off with his bare hands from his shoulders.

7. Art Sprays Santa With Liquid Nitrogen (Terrifier 3)

In the blockbuster hit “Terrifier 3”, it was evident that Art the Clown’s methods of murder aren’t confined to conventional tools. This was demonstrated when he employed liquid nitrogen to freeze a fake Santa Claus (often seen in Rob Zombie films, Daniel Roebuck) from the neck down after securing him to a chair. To make matters worse, he subsequently pounded Santa’s wrists and kneecaps until they shattered, possibly landing Art on the actual Santa’s list of naughty children.

6. Art Hacks Jennifer Limb By Limb (Terrifier 3)

Initial reactions from viewers leaving Terrifier 3 during the first scene are not unexpected given the gruesome acts performed on Jennifer, portrayed by Krystle Fox, by the sinister character Art the Clown. The distressing scenes of her son’s off-screen demise and her husband’s beheading are already hard to bear, but the prolonged focus on Art transforming this innocent mother into a character reminiscent of the Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail is downright chilling. Such ruthless portrayal is truly heart-wrenching.

5. Art Melts Brooke’s Face… And More (Terrifier 2)

In “Terrifier 2,” Sienna Shaw (played by Lauren LaVera), an exceptionally resilient character in contemporary horror films, tragically loses her companions at the hands of Art the Clown. One such friend is Brooke, played by Kailey Hyman. In a particularly gruesome sequence set in a theme park restroom, Art throws acid into Brooke’s face and hammers her back with a table leg transformed into a deadly weapon adorned with sharp objects. He then utilizes this weapon to destroy Brooke’s kneecap and proceeds to beat her heart, still pulsating within her chest, before tearing it out and taking a substantial bite from it. This grisly scene is only one of the many disturbing killings in the sequel, which we will delve into later on.

4. Art Hacksaws Dawn In Half (Terrifier)

The original film solidified “Terrifier” as an enduring shock experience and elevated Art the Clown to one of the top horror movie antagonists, largely due to its most gruesome scene: the splitting of Dawn. Bound to a chair, Tara (Jenna Kanell) is compelled to witness her friend, Dawn (Catherine Corcoran), hanging upside down and nearly naked, as a sheet is removed by the killer. As the reality of the grotesque image settles in, Art brandishes a grimy hacksaw and slices through Dawn from between her legs and almost entirely across her head. It seems that Corcoran, in an interview with Halloween Daily News, did not anticipate the impact this provocative scene would have.

3. Art Feeds Jess Rats (Terrifier 3)

In a chilling scene reminiscent of “Terrifier 3”, an incident that left TopMob’s Nick Venable with lasting horror, involved Sienna’s aunt Jess (played by Margaret Anne Florence). The ordeal, orchestrated by the sinister Art the Clown, involved a blow torch, a litter of rats, and a twisted display of cruelty. Art forced rats into a plastic tube inserted down her throat, ignited the blow torch to push them towards the bottom, then slit her neck open, allowing the rats to escape. Her skepticism about Sienna’s warnings about Art’s return vanished as the reality of the situation became painfully clear.

2. Art Chainsaws Cole In Half (Terrifier 3)

If Damien Leone had followed studio suggestions to reduce the gore in Terrifier 3, we would have missed out on a scene that surpasses Dawn’s death in intensity and even challenges Psycho for cinema’s most shocking shower scene. However, it’s worth noting that by this point, Cole (played by Mason Mecartea) is already out of the shower, crawling on the floor with half his leg missing. Art the Clown then brutally attacks him using a chainsaw, dismembering him completely until he splits in two. To add to the horror, Art playfully creates a “snow angel” in the college student’s blood. That fellow is definitely not right.

1. Art Tortures Allie (Terrifier 2)

To really get readers to understand my choice for the most unbelievably barbaric and shamelessly vulgar kill in the entire Terrifier franchise so far, I think it is best to take things one step at a time. In Terrifier 2, Art the Clown breaks into the home of Sienna’s friend Allie (Casey Hartnett) and chases her into her bedroom, where he slashes her left eye open, snips off her scalp with a pair of scissors, carves out a chunk of her back, breaks her left arm, pulls the snapped portion off by hand, and rips her other hand in half.

He then scalpels her multiple times and douses her with bleach and salt (which he also takes time to vigorously rub into her back) before ripping half her face off. When her mother (Amy Russ) comes home to find Art slicing the skin from her legs, she weakly calls out to her, indicating that, after all of that carnage, SHE IS STILL ALIVE! By that point, you would be praying for death but this moment assures us that this clown does not have a merciful bone in his body.

If you, for some ungodly reason, still do not find any of these scenes gory enough, there are other movies like Terrifier that might deliver the bloody goods for you, such as Damien Leone’s 2013 anthology horror movie favorite, All Hallow’s Eve, which is the first feature-length film to feature Art the Clown. Now that Terrifier 4 has been confirmed, according to Variety, I can only imagine how this sadistic killer intends to up the ante.
