As a huge fan of both the book and the original film adaptation of “American Psycho,” I must say that the castings suggested here are nothing short of intriguing!
With director Luca Guadagnino preparing to bring his unique take on “American Psycho” to life, many are curious about how this adaptation might unfold. The original “American Psycho” stands as a classic, boasting an exceptional portrayal by Christian Bale. Filling such esteemed footsteps is no small task, and while specifics about the upcoming project are sparse, it’s known that the remake will hew closer to Bret Easton Ellis’ novel, leaving much still unclear. The burning question on everyone’s mind: who will portray Patrick Bateman?; here are our top six candidates for the role.
Jacob Elordi

It appears that Jacob Elordi, who gained fame from his role in HBO’s Euphoria, is being strongly considered for the part of Patrick Bateman. Bill Skarsgård’s talent for portraying sinister characters is exceptional and could make him an ideal fit for the role of Patrick Bateman, following Robert Eggers’ anticipated version of Nosferatu where he plays Count Orlok. Skarsgård has demonstrated his versatility in playing diverse monsters, and it seems that he can effortlessly balance the complex mix of darkness and materialism that defines Bateman. Additionally, Skarsgård brings a touch of melancholy to his characters, as evidenced by his performance as Marquis de Gramont in John Wick: Chapter 4.
Mackenzie Davis
Known for Terminator: Dark Fate, Black Mirror, Blade Runner: 2049
If the new American Psycho is closer to the book than the original film, it would be hard to imagine that they would not go with a man in the lead role. However, if they change it up and go with a woman in the lead, we would want it to be Mackenzie Davis. Davis pulled off an intimidating figure, Grace, in Terminator: Dark Fate, which we can see her carrying into American Psycho. However, her underrated performance in the phenomenal psychological thriller Always Shine shows the actor is ideally suited to handle that complex mix of vanity and cruelty that Patrick Batmen is capable of.
