With Billy Bob Thornton leading the charge as Tommy Norris, a crisis manager in the oil industry, this show promises to be a high-stakes, adrenaline-fueled ride through the heart of Texas’ booming oil business.
In the bustling frontier town of Landman, nestled deep within the heart of Wild West Texas, I’m right smack dab in the thick of it all. The oil game here isn’t just a pastime; it’s life itself. And as one of the crucial gears turning this machine, I’ve found myself at the center of it all. Billy Bob Thornton, they say, is another key player in this grand dance.
The second preview for Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming series, which delves into the world of the oil business, primarily showcases character Tommy Norris, portrayed by Thornton, who is a crisis manager in this industry. It further explores the intricate relationships within the high-profile cast that includes Thornton, Jon Hamm, Demi Moore, and Ali Larter.
In a fast-paced preview, Tommy (Thornton) states, “People pass away, but oil corporations live on,” as he introduces himself as a divorced, struggling alcoholic with a debt of half a million dollars. He then involves his son (Jacob Lofland) in the family business.
In this series, Hamm portrays Monty Miller, a prominent figure in the Texas oil industry who has a significant history with Tommy, while Moore takes on the role of Cami, the wife of another influential Texas oil magnate and acquaintance of Norris. Larter is cast as Norris’ former spouse. Additionally, Andy Garcia and Michael Peña make appearances as guests.
Nestled in the bustling oil towns of West Texas, “Landman” is portrayed as a contemporary narrative that explores the pursuit of wealth in the realm of oil drilling operations. This series, inspired by the 11-part podcast “Boomtown” from Imperative Entertainment and “Texas Monthly”, unfolds as an intricate tale of both roughnecks and wildcat billionaires who are driving a boom so monumental that it’s redefining our climate, economy, and geopolitics.
Previously, Hamm described the series as follows: “The story revolves around oil speculators and ‘landmen,’ who are individuals responsible for acquiring mineral and land rights. They roam around in search of oil deposits, especially in Texas where there’s a lot of it buried underground. It’s an intriguing exploration of the process behind obtaining resources essential to our cars, daily lives, airplanes, and modern world as a whole.
The series titled “Landman” is set to debut on Paramount+ this coming Sunday, November 17th, with a double premiere. The remaining 8 episodes will be released weekly thereafter.
Landman joins the lineup of shows under Sheridan’s Paramount+ platform, including 1923, 1883, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King (which is concluding its second season on November 17), Lawman: Bass Reeves, another installment of Tulsa King, and Lioness, which has just started its second season. Landman will debut alongside the eagerly awaited season 5B episodes of Sheridan’s Yellowstone, set to premiere on Sunday, November 10.
Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, and James Jordan complete the ensemble in the show titled “Landman“.
The series “Landman” was jointly created by the chief of Yellowstone, Sheridan, and Christian Wallace. It’s produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and Bosque Ranch Productions.
